Wow the Jardine vs. Alexander fight was fast and furious.

Spoiler Alert:

Alexander knocked the sense out of Jardine. Jardine thought he was going to walk through Alexander. It took all of 48 seconds.

That was a crazy fight, knocked him down like three times in about twenty seconds, then out comes the mouthpiece.

Liddell vs Jackson won the ESPN poll tonight of which event you were more excited about watching.

Rampage is way more marketable than Chuck. This is good for the sport.

That didn't last long.

I'm already looking forward to the Dan Henderson vs. Rampage Jackson fight.

I still can't believe ESPN is devoting highlights to this bout. I guess what sells is what shows.

I don't get the appeal in UFC. It's just two shirtless guys beating the shit out of each other. Where's the tact?

That is only one style of fight. Most UFC type fighters have black belts in more than one discipline of martial arts. A good knock-out is fun, but I really prefer bouts that end in submission. There's the tact for you.

They are doing that. Beating the shit out of one another. There is some tact in it. Its not to the level of Boxing, becuase boxing only focuses on the punches. I myself like boxing better, i just think there is more training and more of a thought process in boxing, but i still like MMA as well.

I take it you have never trained in any style of martial arts?

Keep you chin up, you don't have to watch the bad, evil UFC. There's always live figure skating for guys like you big boy. :thumb:

it's streetfighting with a referee

it's streetfighting with a referee

that's what it was in '95. now it is much more regulated. Sorry, an MMA fight is nothing like a street fight.

I'm a martial artist and that's what street fighting looks like , it just has a ref so the guy losing won't get killed.

oh ok, I wont argue with you now that I'm aware of your expertise in all things martial.

I've been it for 15 years met several people in the arts, and been in a few street fights myself(unfortunately)

It looked like Chuck was gonna be well out of range of that one, but he caught just enough of it.

No matter how bad you are, theres always someone who has your number...that guy is Jackson for Chuck.

I'm glad i didnt pay $50 for a 1st round KO.

Immaculate starts his thread days in advance. This thread was started after the fights were already started.

Here are the results from last night:

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson defeats Chuck Liddell via knockout in round one
Karo Parisyan defeats Josh Burkman via unanimous decision
Terry Martin defeats Ivan Salaverry via technical knockout in round one
Houston Alexander defeats Keith Jardine via knockout in round one
Kalib Starnes defeats Chris Leben via unanimous decision
Thiago Silva defeats James Irvin via referee stoppage (grizzly knee injury from what we hear)
Alan Belcher defeats Sean Salmon via submission (guillotine choke) in round one
Din Thomas defeats Jeremy Stephens via submission (armbar) in round two
Wilson Gouveia defeats Carmelo Marrero via submission (guillotine choke) in round one

The Parysyan Burkman fight was a decent fight but karo was just too much for Burkman.

The Martin/Salaverry fight was a quick one. I thought it was stopped too soon.

Starnes / Leban was a good fight. Starnes fought a good fight. Leban was looking for the one punch knockout.

Thomas / Stephens- This Stephens kid looks like he is going to good. He was out classed by Thomas but he's only 21 and has time to improve his game.

Gouveia / Marrero - Gouveia looked impressive. The guillotine choke might have been the final outcome but the leg kicks are what did in Marrero.

Dan Henderson was there watching the fights. He had his middle weight and light heavyweight championship belts with him from Pride. He is the next opponent that Rampage will face.

BigVE

Liddell always looks out of shape to me. He has had a long run as champ and most people can't handle that much success and still keep working hard. Rampage won't last.
