Went to Panama City Beach today. The waves were awesome. You'd think there was some sort of tropical storm around. Had a blast. My roomie for the week went out with a local. Those waves wore me out today. I'm just kicking back and getting things packed and ready for the flight home tomorrow. It's been a good trip, but I think I'll be glad to get home.

A non-Royals post?

Nonsense. There are plenty of nice beaches in the US, especially in Hawaii.

ok now go to the bahamas and look at all the beaches where you can see down 20+ feet

Destin, The Keys - the place kcman posted.

The Bahamas - the only difference between it and Detroit, is the beaches and the beaches only. I won't argue they are beautiful beaches but the statement "There are no good beaches in America" is silly.

dirty, cold, shark infested waters is all we have for our beaches. Some of the sandy areas are nice, probably better scenery from a thong perspective too.

That being said give me clear blue water over the crap in the gulf any day.

Caledesi is nicer, imo. But DeSoto is nice too.

Luv, the panhandle beaches are beautiful and we had mildly stormy weather here. Waves are great after those. Too bad you didn't have a boogie board.

I was in the Bahamas, the Sept before last. The water is clearer because it's shallower. Bajamar, the original Spanish word means “shallow water.” You're not going to get that in northern Florida. I can't say the surrounding parts of the Bahamas were very nice though.

I think there is different kinds of beauty in different areas.

I thought Bermuda's beaches were prettier than the Bahamas.
And they are also surrounded by beauty in the area as well, much nicer.

Since I have no wife or kids I always think about going to a beach city and being a bartender or server and just spend my days on the beach jimmy buffett style. I wouldn't regret being a beach bum, but I love my family back in st joseph too much not to be away from them for too long.

Glad you got to see it and something decent. There's lots of ratty ones particularly near cities up north.

As a far as a clear body of water goes. Nothing beats the Exumas, nothing. That being said, there can be beautiful beaches found everywhere. Even in Scheveningen, where dutch women and cold wind reign.

On another note, why is that every time I have seen a German on the beach, they have already or are in the process of digging themselves a partial grave? What's up with that?

I love Panama City too. I went there for Spring Break about 10 years ago and saw more naked college girls in a week than I've seen in my entire life!

In a couple of weeks, we are going on a family trip to Santa Rosa Beach(just outside of Destin) . My parents rented a beach house for the week. I can't wait!

As Bob Dole understands it, Jones Beach was pretty much a mirror image of Pensacola before George Bush was elected President.
