need a good,fun,unique idea for a Dad's day gift.

i have no idea what to get my dad, but he's really into fishing.

virtually every weekend he hits the lake of the Ozarks.

has a boat,fishfinder and GPS

rod and reel i wouldn't know what he wants exactly

any spiffy new items that a fisherman just shouldn't be without?

besides anti-freeze :)

Do you have any idea what kind of fish he goes for?

Does he have any interest in ice fishing?

Is he into fly fishing at all?

A guy can never have to many GOOD knives either.

Throw out a few more details and I'll give you some ideas.

anything specific you see there or are you thinking more of a gift certificate kind of situation?

Cabela's Gift Certificate (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0005586990011a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results2.jsp&Ne=2510&noImage=0&Ntt=gift&Ntk=Products&QueryText=gift&Ntx=matchall&N=4690&trueNum=10)

Get him the Cabela's Gift Certificate. Without question, he will pick out something he will really like. I know I would MUCH rather someone get me the gift certificate than a regular gift because I know damn well I will like what I pick out. Here's a link to three choices.

Thanks, mountain man.

My wife likes to get them (THANK GOD!) or I would be in trouble myself, oh, and my pleasure.

buy him some pumpin and watermellon "hoo daddy's" and a 100 count bag of 7" electric blue with opal white tail, salt impregnated plastic worms.

After he uses those, he won't care what else you give him.

What are they good for? Bass? Crappie?

The 7" worms sound like Bass lures to me.

could you repeat that, in English this time. :D

i didn't inherit the fishing part ... just the "having a couple of beers" part from my dad.

I like Gene Larew baits and have for years.

"Hoo Daddy" are a type of Gene Larew garlic and scent impregnated soft Creature baits. You can never go wrong with June Bug, Watermellon, pumpkin or baby bass colors. There are smaller ones that will work for crappy, and the 4 and 6" are good for bass. 3" would be more of a crappie bait.

I love these......if he's a bass fisherman and uses soft baits....he will like them.

http://www.easycarts.net/ecarts/GeneLarewTackle/Worms.html

My favorite, and it has been since I was around 14 years old is the 8" hook tail worm....Electric Blue with the pearl white tail.

If he fishes for big bass......you can't go wrong with a couple of bags of 10" berkley power worms.

I'm not an expert by any means...but I fish quite a bit.

My other "go to" lure that I like very much are the Bill Dance, baby bass color ExCaliber. They're a top water popper that looks like a small bass....I shred big bass with those.

I like the baby bass color...I believe its #58.
