For those that do, is it really as addictive as it's made out to be?

Yep, i do, started it about 4 or 5 months ago. Scott Free is my handle, just like here.

A while back i searched for a Chiefs page on it & found one made by a 39 year old male in KC... i tried to friends request, but the son of a bitch had blocked me from contacting him. Obviously a Planeteer, who can obviously kiss my ass.

Not for me. I check mine out 2 or so times a week. It's the kids that make big deal out of it. (or folks with no lives).

I got mine to find old friends. It works pretty good for that.

its just a good way to keep in touch with people that you don't see very often. I check it about as often as I do my email, usually twice a day, sometimes less.

Does anyone know of any Chiefs or Royals players on there?

I have an account but it is not addictive I just use it as another way to keep in touch with people. I live in a small town but I still have friends and family that live in the city. I don't see why so many people hate on it if you don't like don't use it there are millions of sites I don't like but I don't hate on them I just don't use them.

The coolest thing about it to me, is all of the great new bands/artists that i've discovered. I have 'ran into' some old pals, but not very many, it seems to be mostly younger people that get into it.

Another cool thing is that some of your fave celebs will actually correspond with you, Fred Armisen from SNL always replys to my messages.

Other than that I use it for keeping in touch with a few people that I don't get to see very often.

I see nothing wrong with the site. It's a great social networking site that helps people stay connected. About everybody nowadays has an account. I used to swear by it for picking up chicks, but now everybody has it so it's been diluted a little bit and theres alot of spam pages on there, so I don't use it for that purpose any longer.

People make a big deal out of myspace, but facebook is 10 times worse. People can "tag" pictures of you and it automatically goes on ur shit. Think if you were Michael Vick how this would suck. Someone "tags" a picture of you at a dog fighting match, the world has now saw it. If you change anything on your profile, it goes on a mini feed thing so everybody can see it. When someone writes on ur wall, or friends you...it also goes on this mini feed thing. There are even alot more worse features, it is stalkerbook.

Any tag can be removed from your profile with one click.

This is a common argument but Facebook sets up all kinds of layers of security. If you dont use the security you are lazy. If you still don't like some parts of it then you shouldn't have anything to do with a social networking site.

I've got both myspace and facebook, but use each one moderately, at best.

Its a good way to keep in contact with people you don't keep up with, but I still don't find the need to be on it constantly looking at everyone's profiles to see what's new. Granted, I've got around 300 people on myspace, and when I first signed up it was fun to see who all was on there, but now its not that intriguing.

It is funny to be talking to girls at a bar and they ask if you have one or the other, and on a few instances I will have met a girl out and her randomly find me and contact me on there. However, I would never go searching on there and contact someone I didn't know- which when myspace started out was more of looking to hookup purpose from what I heard

At the bottom of that page is a text box where you are expected to explain your sin. You then can send it off to the ULC where it can be absolved. Or I can absolve you. I've been ordained. I'm an Agnostic Minister.

I have a hard enough time keeping up with friends in town, I don't have time for that. Besides, what is wrong with e-mail or a phone call if you want to stay in touch with old friends?

Actually for me the main reason I have no interest is because there is no way I am letting my teenage boys on there and I am not going to say it is ok for me and not for them. I try my best to live my life the way I expect them to live theirs.

Just curious, all those who say they like it to find old friends and the like, did you ever pay for classmates.com? (No, I don't do that either, I like my semi-anonymity on-line).

I spent my life moving from town to town in my radio career and simply couldn't keep up. So yeah, I like that I have found some old friends.
You don't have to detail your entire life on a my space account dude, you are judging everyone by the examples of the freaks you've seen on that thing.
Speaking only for myself, I have little info about myself and I blog about the pet rescue I do and only keep 5 friends, that's it. Not everyone on there is an attention starved, narcissistic freak.

15 and 12. The older one would probably handle himself ok, he has shown a decent amount of responsibility for his age. It is just easier this way though.

This is not really all that different from the fact that the only computers with internet access are located in the front room. I love and trust my boys but there is no reason to be bliind about it either. They will have plenty of time when they are 18+ to explore the more "dangerous" parts of the intraweb.

Well, just saying, its not only to go try to pick up chicks. Maybe if you are 17 years old you can do that.

All it is is a fucking website to keep in contact without having to call everyone for any little thing. Most people now days use the computer alot, so why the fuck not.

I guess, to each their own, i know that people that dont have a myspace always talk down on the website like their shit dont stink or something. Its all good though, i used to be one of them until i realized i was totally wrong about it and i just tried to play the i am to cool for that role.

I don't consider myself "too cool" for it. It's just 1) obnoxious to visit a website with "OMG Here's my favorite song! YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT!", ads all over the place, and walls of text all over the place, 2) a very impersonal way of communicating, and 3) offers no actual value.

Just for the record, I don't dig communicating only via e-mail, either. I find that very impersonal, too. It's much better to just call someone and find out what's going on that way. I have no need to find out what someone's mood is or view a list of 385 people on their friends list that they have probably never met.

For my money, it's all about more personal interaction. As most of my family is 540 miles away, a telephone call is about as personal as I can get on a regular basis, but I think that's WAY better than faceless, emotionless internet communication. That's what CP is for lol

Naw, nobody uses myspace for picking up chicks anymore...unless you already know them in real life. Then it's a good way of social networking. I'm lazy. I don't like to call people on the phone just to talk, so it's a good way to keep in touch with people I'm not real good friends with and people I know who live a long way away.

when I did use my space it was mostly to find old friends, which I did. I lost contact with a friend of mine when I moved out of state about 10 years ago and when I moved home I went to my space to see if she was on there and she was. I found she had got married and I thought of her boyfriend at the time I knew her and sure enough I got her number and gave her a call. It was so great talking to her again. Actually that was all i ever used it for.

It is a great way to keep up with distant friends and family... I have lots of old Army buddies that use it as well. It is a good way to keep up with friends and family that you may not speak with very often. It may be a rather impersonal form of communication, but you have to admit it is pretty efficient. Five minutes posting a blog and some new pictures could save you 2-3 hours on the phone depending on how many friends and family you have.

MySpace sucks compared to Facebook. I have logged in to myspace 3 times in the last 6 months... but log into Facebook at least every other day.
I agree. Facebook is the new MySpace.

Except that it's, y'know, 5 years old.

Nope, I'm over 15 years old.

I'm 31. I don't use it to hit on people. It was popular before facebook, so I had already been in contact with some people from high school.

IMO, Facebook has more applications that myspace does. I hate those stupid things. You're always getting invited to join one thing or another. I quit joinging a lot of them. I log into my facebook whenever I get a notification that someone has contacted me, added me, or invited me to join some silly group.

Facebook began back in 2003 as a social network for college students. In the beginning it was only open to Ivy League schools (Harvard, Yale, etc.) ... and UF (the creators were from FL and wanted to have their friends from home on there too). It began to expand rapidly adding more and more schools.

Eventually it allowed high schoolers, adults who didn't attend or completed college, work networks, etc. It was much better in its initial stages, IMO.

I've had it since 04 and I think it has gotten better.

I like them both , but I like facebook better because it's more of the mid 20's crowd because of when it first started

I know, I'm just saying it seems to have taken over MySpace as far as popularity goes.

I'm 31 years old and use Facebook every day. Pretty much all of my friends, who are the same age as me, use it. I've connected with a lot of old friends from high school too. I use it to see what the people I know have been up to, and to share photos, movies, etc. of my family (especially my kids), my friends, etc.

I used to have a personal blog, but with most of my friends and family using Facebook, it's just easier to use it instead.
