Independence has a free zoo. They have a Monkey Island that is a castle with a mote all they way around it. They have dozens of monkeys on it. If you throw bubble gum on the island they will fight over it, chew it, and get it stuck all in their hair. Rumor has it that if you throw a cat on the island that the monkeys will F#*K it to death. That's about it.
Coffeyville has limited cell phone reception. That's about it.

I think you can tour the Russell Stover plant at Iola. They have a store there that you can buy uber cheap "seconds" (F ups), but they may be good for the wifey.
I'm pretty sure I've never heard of Uniontown.
Isn't there a really good Division 3 football town with something Union?

Independence is my hometown, graduated there. My father used to be the Zoo veternarian. He took care of miss able, the first monkey to visit outer space. And I'vr never seen the monkeys on monkey island **** a cat but they sure will rip one to shreds. Nothing to do in Indy except maybe visit the Elk City resevoir. I also went to college in Iola, Allen County community college. They had a great baseball program. All my family moved away from Indy and I haven't been back for nearly 20 years. No desire to either, that placed sucked.

ROFL ROFL Pat's has an 'A' list?? I the last time I was in there they were pretty thick but had a few that weren't bad. But for a $1 a lap dance you take what you can get. :)
Hey when I was going there, (only a couple times mind you) there were a several nice pieces there. Group of my friends and I would go there for a few hours and then go finish the night off at Twisters out on the highway; all the drunk chicks looking for a 2am husband!

Hell I would go for that! Except I want to go in the back bar so I can have hard liquor and not the 3.2 beer they serve in the main bar!

The key is to go in the evenings, particularly Friday and Saturday. If you go during the day or weeknight, the collage chicks aren’t working and you’re left with the meth head biker chicks.

I skipped mine a couple of years ago because it was on a Friday night and I didn't want to drive for 3 1/2 hours to SEK. Good luck with that. :)

Theres only a few drive-ins still active in KS.
The only other one I know of is at Osawatomie.
My hometown Medicine Lodge, KS has a nice one. It's in South Central...it reopened in the early 90's.

PATS LOUNGE!! $1 lap dances!! Greatest place ever!!
(As long as they have their "A" list working!) :DGood Lord, I lived half a block from Pats for a while and never ventured into that place. Part of my apprehension stemmed from having "Scary Terri" in one of my classes. Ugh.

Pat herself is a scary woman. I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. She is a mean pimp.

NuWay trailers.
And this assessment is dead on. Chanute is doing better, but Iola, Humboldt and several others are floundering.
Iola-Humboldt struggling?? NuWay is a crap hole from what I hear...grew up in Iola now live in the country near there...it's not a bad place but it is much better than Chanute...LOL.

Yes I think it is still open although it's changed hands several times over the last few years...Food used to be pretty good there but don't remember the DSL lips...

Add Humboldt, Monarch Cement.
Doesn’t Cessna have a plant in Independence?
Iola has Gates Belts and Hoses.Independence has one of the larger Cessna plants. Most of the Citations are built there (I think) and the newMustang (Cessna's small private jet) is built there. Didn't notice it elsewhere in the thread, but one good thing about Coffeyville is the huge amazon.com distro warehouse there. And I think the strip joint is currently closed. (There ARE some good radio stations in in this part of SEK, though, if I may say so myself ;) .)

Ah, the good ole Chanute-Iola rivalry. Always seemed pretty one sided to me, but whatever. :p
Simple fact is, Iola is having a harder time keeping businesses open than Chanute is. Humboldt only has Monarch Cement to look forward too and their land values have fallen through the basement. A manager that used to work here bought a home in Humboldt 10-15 years ago and now can’t sell it for half what he paid back then.
No argument on NuWay, it’s a place to work but not a very good one. Plus there market is so up and down it’s hard to maintain as sole income for the people that work there.
I used to live in Colony, and then to Chanute..Then To Kansas City..

It’s “Bench Warmers” now.
Don’t know the DSL chick, but it wouldn't surprise me. One of the previous owners of G. Wiliker’s like to hire the younger girls then make them wear tight t-shirts. He got busted for dealing meth and serving minors booze.
