I have to lose weight to get into tip top condition for my vacation in August. I will quit drinking beer for 5 weeks, and will only drink Bacardi and diet coke and Grey goose and club to accomplish said mission.(along with a vigorous workout regiment).

Who is with me? you will still get your booze fix, but it won't be beer. which will be tough in the summer heat.

Yes..beer is still beer..whether it's lite beer or not, it has more carbs/Calories and sugar than any kind of Vodka/club mix.

I have done this before, and it works for me.

Over the past 10 years or so, I stayed at about 160, give or take 2 to 3 lbs, year round.

I got all the way up to that weight after I had knee reconstruction.

Before that, I stayed pretty steady at 145 for about 10 years.

I haven't ever been subject to seasonal change of more than 2 or 3 lbs.

When it gets cold here on the east coast in the winter time, my appetite

You must be quite a bit shorter than me (6'2"). I can gain and lose 10 lbs. pretty easily without anyone noticing a difference (except the wife... she always seems to notice... vocally). I'm finally getting back down into summer shape. The shit of it is that I'll peak and look pretty ripped about the end of August, when it's time for me to start putting on the winter weight again.

This is very ironic, as I just sat down with a Bukler non-alcoholic beer. My first foray into the non-alkies since giving up the devil's elixir six days ago.
And as I took my first sip, I thought to myself, "will this cancel out my weight loss potential from not drinking?"

But I don't think so. Because without the alcohol there's no "good happy happy dizzy feeling" to make me want to drink twelve of these.

good luck gents!
