Despite rumors that he might retire for good following his unceremonious release by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this spring, veteran offensive tackle Kyle Turley is ready to give football another try.

Turley, who missed the entire 2004 and 2005 seasons because of a herniated disc and related back woes, but then signed with Kansas City and actually opened the 2006 campaign as the starting left tackle, quietly worked out for Chiefs officials this week, ESPN.com has learned.

And he is ready to audition for other teams, too, if they are interested.

Succeed where others have failed. Including himself.

What does Len mean by "looks like old self"? Has Turley suddenly put on 50 pounds?

Wonderful; giving turnstile Turley another shot. Maybe they're in need of a water boy.

Turley absolutely cannot make this team this year.

Dear god please don't let him make this team this year.

I don't see any way possible Turley makes this team.

Certainly not at Left Tackle...
And I would think with Herb Taylor, Kevin Sampson, Chris Terry and Will Svitek that he'd have no shot at the other tackle spot.

Geez could you have named a worse group of tackles in the NFL? If Turley makes it anywhere its in KC

It seemed fairly clear that he was at least another year away last season just due to his size alone. He was tossed into the starting lineup way to early due to Roaf retiring and it got ugly fast.

If he has added some weight I don't see how looking around at him right now hurts in any way.

Turley is done. He might bulk up enough to get paid and then go on the IR. Meanwhile, KC does not fill a need and the scrub we got from Miami misses out on practice time.

What happened last year that makes us think things will be better this year?

Pretty much nothing at all unless his size and health has changed. If he is looking like last year where his technique is great but his size is more than questionable I hope we ignore him.

I'm firmly in the school of thought that believes we've seen all we ned to see of Kyle Turley.

Back issues... they never go away.

Sorry Turley call it a career.
