Well I recently got a cell phone and I don't want to do unwanted things that will rack up charges on my cell phone bill, I know doing things like sending and receiving texts is 15 cents a piece...idk if there are other charges that could jump out at me like..such as listening to ringtones on your phone, playing games on the phone, ect.
please offer any tips.

Playing games can and will get expensive. You will need to buy games, let's say 2.99 a month charge or 5.00 unlimited...some people get bored with the one they have and get more.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy another ringtone. I downloaded Motorola Ringtones and bought a USB cable six months ago. I use to buy ringtones at 2.99 each and now pay nothing after buying the 15 dollar cable.

Edit: Hell, when I had a alltel phone they would charge me state, county and city taxes and roaming killed me.

Now I have AT&T and don't have roaming. I have a 3000 message plan that runs me about 20 a month.

Best thing to do is turn it off and throw it in a drawer.

Directory Assistance, to my surprise, cost me a buck seventy-nine a pop with Cingular. Or AT&T, or whatever the name is this week.

Use 1-800-373-3411 for Directory Assistance.

You have to listen to an annoying ad, but no charge for information.

Thanks for the tip. But you'll have to tell my fiancee too, 'cause she's the one who keeps using it. If I wake her up to read this, will you type that again in all caps? And bolded? Red maybe?

I have unlimited texting with Verizon. Not just other Verizon customers, everyone. 4 lines, 3000 minutes. $200/month.

with cingular they cut me off because after 2 months I basically forgot or was too lazy to mail in the bill and slapped me with a $40 "reconnection fee" which is probably 3 left clicks on the mouse.

cell phone companies are the ****ing devil. Some of the shit they charge for is takes basically no resources yet for some reason competition isn't bringing the prices down. We were all better off with land lines.

Remember the day when there were no cell phones? I'd like to go back to those days. I liked the fact that I couldn't be tracked down. Sometimes that cell phone feels like another ball and chain. Nothing worse than eating lunch and you get a call from work :banghead: There was also no caller ID back in the day because there were no telemarketers calling to annoy you constantly.

My brother works for Sprint......so free. The service is pretty bad, but that is like bitching about free beer.

Cell Phones-What are you charged for?

Mainly, to keep the little battery thing from running out of power, Mr. KC_CHIEFS_06. So I can make calls and stuff.

Actually, I have a relative who works for T-Mobile and their employees are provided two plans (one for themselves and one for someone else) as a perk.

I got the second free plan, so we're solid.
