I was watching more TLC house flipping TV, and one of them was a 1200 sqft for 300K. So I went to Zillow to see what other houses were going for there.

It turns out this show's prices are really low.

I would move as well if I made my first house purchase in CA.

Wow, those houses are shitholes. I wouldn't pay 75K to live anywhere near there.

I am looking at houses and it takes even $2000,000 in the south to get a decent crib in Alabama.

I know but it is my parents, not me.

Looks like I am paying my dues in their territory. :cuss:

I've noticed a common theme here:

1. There are no pictures of the actual house being sold

2. There is at least one neighbor on the block with a yard full of trash and one car on blocks out on the street.

You can't pay for a $425,000 house on $12.75/hr. Hell I couldn't afford the house I live in on that.

We're far from poor, but my wife and I couldn't afford to live in CA.

We could live in a big house in a country club neighborhhod for that kind of cake.....

Wow, for that $ I would at least expect a house that's more than 4' away from the one next door. :shake:

Next to impossible in this area, without being an hour from everything or spending 500K +

Builders are packing as many houses together as possible, and when they run out of room, they move farther west.

We've both lived here our entire lives, but I anticipate our next move will be out-of-town.

I don't get it either. I would much rather have a smaller house farther away from my neighbors. Frankly, I'd like to have "neighbors" the way my father-in-law has neighbors. 2+ miles away.
