View Full Version : Any Marines on here?

There is a website for Marines only. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll send you the website.

They check records to ensure only Marines register. Army, Air Force and Navy are not invited.

It's a good site that will give you a search function to find old buddies/brothers.

It is a free site.

No, just sharing a website for Marines. I don't qualify but I have friends that are Marines and they want the board to be populated.

I don't know. I'd guess that the TWS site overall might have one for the Army as well as the Air Force. If I can find them I'll let you know.

Edit: I did a quick google search and came up with this.

Two soldiers, one Army and the other a Marine, go to the urinal at the same time after a movie.

After finishing up and giving the mandatory shake, the Army soldier proceeds to leave the restroom. The Marine called out... HEY! In the Marines, they teach us to wash our hands after we piss. To which the Army soldier replied... Yeah? Well, in the Army, they teach us not to piss on our hands!

You are sick of me having different opinions than you. So sorry about that man. I think this anti military thing is a fantasy you made up. It isn't there...being against some of the things going on with our troops right now does not make one anti military. You even had to reach with some personal stuff that really has no basis.

Do you think it is foolish for someone who is in the military criticizing someone else for being influenced by other people?

That is the basis of our military system. As it should be.

Don't let your dislike of me cloud this simple idea.

I know, Brandon...I'm being honest, here. I DO LIKE, Zach. I swear. I do.

He just pisses me off, when he's sucked in....as an intelligent, articulate, and youthful type into these innane and incredibly stupid positions on political/military issues, which...he's just purely, and simply, wrong.

Maybe it's like my eleven year old son---hell, I wouldn't trade him for ANY other eleven year old that I know. Seriously. Yet, I'm very tough on him, at times. Seriously, I am not perfect on here or anywhere. But I have never thought that. I could see how the post could be taken that way. But this was not what you thought it was and I don't believe this anti military track record you believe I have. It isn't there.

Lets go over this again though. Surely anyone who served would realize how silly it is for someone to call another weak for being influenced by people. This has nothing to do with anyone being stupid. He applied a derogatory connotation to a structure that is the bedrock of our military. I was pointing out how ridiculous it was for him to make that connection.

Zach's only mistake was that he left "signs of a weak mind" tagged on at the end of "Simple, you were influenced by someone else", which could be taken as something other than what I think he meant.

Otherwise it was a perfectly reasonable ironic reply to a complete and total waste of human flesh.

And nobody should be defending that weasel cash in any way, shape or form, regardless.

When I read Zach's post I let out an audible 'OW' myself. The problem is that what Zach meant, and what came across were 2 completely different things.

To those who have put on the uniform, it felt like a slap. I don't think that that was Zach's intention at all though.

Kotter... I completely understand where you are coming from on this.

Zach... I also understand what you were trying to say. In the future a "damn, sorry... did not mean it that way" would have difused this whole thing.

The majority of us who have put on the uniform of a soldier are a bit touchy... especially with today's climate of anti-war and quasi anti-soldier sentimentality.

Do you think it is foolish for someone who is in the military criticizing someone else for being influenced by other people?

That is the basis of our military system. As it should be.

Don't let your dislike of me cloud this simple idea.

What part of the military includes being influenced? Are you referring to influences that make you join the military or influence after you are in?

I was in for 7 years, and was never military-brain wash-influenced like the way I am understanding your view point. There are lots of rules, and you must follow them all with no exception, but other than that you are your own person.

If I understand correctly, he is referencing the military ranking system and the authoritative ladder of respect that exists in the military. As in, if someone who outranks you tells you to do something, you've got to respect their request and do it, whether you agree with it or not(to an extent). There is a distinct chain of command, and it's an important part of the military process.

Now I'm no military man, but I don't think he was criticizing that process, just saying it was ironic that someone who is trained to strictly adhere to that chain of command shouldn't comment on others who blindly follow orders in a different "chain of command" environment.

This is it...put a lot much better than I could.

Simply deleting the "signs of a weak mind" portion of the quote...or admitting your oversight was, apparently, too painful/difficult of a task for you.

I tried to set up a site like this for the soldiers who were at Valley Forge, but no one signed up. I think maybe there's just no demand for this kind of thing.

Why are you trying to keep this going on...even after you admitted you over reacted you still went out of your way to take jabs at me. I just kept talking about the actual comments at hand and set your personal low blows aside.

The whole time I was trying to make analogies and explain what it was that post was saying. You were ranting and uninterested...I kept trying to ask you to see that side of it by asking you questions you never answered. And here you are...trying to keep this going. Crazy.

Because, you just don't seem to get it: you refuse to "own" your own mistake, as you are so fond of saying.

Intimating, even...inadvertently, military folks have "weak minds" is personal to anyone who served (even if they refuse to take it personally.) You've never answered my original question: to state in a clear way WTF you meant in post 79. Until you answer that, I feel no obligation to answer your questions.

I won't apologize for you taking my comment and making it something it isn't. I have explained myself...others have explained myself many many times. If you reject it then thats fine...we will just leave it at that. If you really believe that I am slamming all military folks as weak minded then there is nothing I can say to dissuade you that hasn't already been said. I will just leave you to the role you have given me. No reason to act like this all hasn't been explained in very clear terms.

Ya know, my momma always told me...

Life is like a box..

wait... thats not it...

What is important is not what you said or how you intended it to be understood, but the way that people took what you said is what really matters.

It is a simple misunderstanding, but surely you can understand how it could have been misinterpreted, no?

Eh, it's a lost cause. He doesn't care how he came across.

Only that he (and some others, apparently) understood what he meant.

I know both Kotter and Zach personally and I can't believe this is still going. You're both retards.

1. Why would anybody take anything personally when it was said to Tom=Cash? I've insulted the Navy in posts directed towards Tom but I don't expect Tim or Ed to take it personally.
2. Why not throw down a simple "I'm sorry" if somebody mistook your intent?

You're both idiots. Please don't take that personally.

Exactly, it is the right of passage for Navy to insult USMC and visa versa.

Heh. I know he quoted Tom....but he said "military guy." As a former military guy, I took offense. It's not a huge deal, really. I just decided to challenge it, strongly; and, frankly, I was just bored at the time...more than anything else. I'm sure as hell not losing any sleep over it.

If it had been INTER-service rivalry; I'd have been fine with it. But it was aimed at "military guys" IMO....which is like someone insulting your sister slut. She may be a slut, but she's your sister.
