Damn.
I didn't think they'd get either player, but damn, not even going to try?
Hopefully it's just a rumor...

Because of the offbeat slotting system, the Chiefs will pick no better than 21st, possibly as bad as 32nd; probably 25-26. This means they won't get any well-known player for the pick he grades out as. They would have to overpay by at least one round to have a chance.
When have the Chiefs ever overpayed?

Yeah, I figured the Chiefs would have zero shot at getting either individual.
Just would like them to try.

They should use a lottery and let the slotting determine how many ping-pong balls each high-round-bidding team gets.

How the hell would we pick 32nd?

First there is a lottery for the worst ten teams by record. Each team gets a number of balls like in the NBA Draft (worst team gets 10, 10th worst team gets 1).
Then there is a lottery for the next ten teams.
Then there is a lottery for the 12 playoff teams. That's how the Chiefs could get 32.

That's the most pointless thing I've ever heard of. The NBA is bad enough, but no NFL team is going to tank their season and lose on purpose to try to move up a spot in the supp. draft.

I think it was a response to the furor over Dallas once getting the first pick in the real draft (Troy Aikman) and the first pick in the supplemental draft (Steve Walsh) and walking away with the two top prospects of the year.
Still though, the whole bidding and losing next year's pick system already prevents that without the lottery.
