Im thinking about buying a 01 Toyota Tundra with 90k on it. It has the V8 and its a 4x4. They want 15k for it, what would you guys settle on? 14250? or less?

How is the interior?
Does it leak oil?
Is the driveshaft tight?

Interior nice. I dont think it leaks and how do you know if the driveshaft is tight?

Crawl under the truck and see if there is any play in the U-joints. Also if you put the truck in gear and hear a loud clunk most likley a u-joint

Look over the motor, particularly underneath (they can wash the oil off of the top but it is tough to get it off the underneath side). You gotta crawl under there anyway to check the driveshaft.

If all these things are OK, it is probably work the book value. I would check several different places for value.

Kelley Blue Book http://www.kbb.com/
NADA www.nadaguides.com/
Edmunds www.edmunds.com

If you want to negotiate, you might start with 3k under the book value and go from there. Any idea how long it has been on the market?

That's kind of what I was thinking. Over a year ago, I got a 2002 Tundra with 46k miles on it for 17,000. They also gave me ridiculous tradein value on a beat up Subaru with a busted transfer clutch.

Where did you snag that thing up at?

Yeah, but not like a quad cab or anything. Check the link out.

Toyota's hold their value so the price is probably in line. Check www.nada.com and www.kbb.com to make sure. I sold my '01 Tacoma for 17k. I expect you'll love it whatever you end up paying fot it.

Seems high to me, as well. I bought my 2003 Ford F150 2 years ago for $17250. It is the supercab with power driver's seat, power windows, A/C, cd/cassette stereo, moon roof, 2wd, step side (a.k.a. flare side) with a 4.6L V8. It only had 25k miles on it.

It's a Toyota. If it hasn't been hit by a train then you're probably good.

yep, like Brock said it is kind of high. Newer Tacoma perhaps? Correct me if I'm wrong but at a minimum, I'm not seeing a CD player. WTF? Where can you find an audio tape these days? I'd say step back and research further...

A dealer here in Arkansas. It was at a time when lots of the dealers around here were getting desperate to get rid of vehicles with poor fuel efficiency (though a Tundra doesn't get that bad of gas mileage).
