View Full Version : 2007 Road Games: Who's going and when?

I usually try to attend a road game every year, last year I made it to 3. (Arizona, St. Louis, Indianapolis)

I've been trying to figure out the logistics for a trip to Houston to see the Season Opener. I know for a lot of you, a "trip" isn't necessary as you live in some of the road cities.

So, my question to you, Planet:

Are you planning on attending any Chiefs road games this year, and if so, where? Will we have a Planeteer at every game of 2007?

9/9 @ Houston

9/16 @ Chicago

9/30 @ San Diego

10/21 @ Oakland

11/18 @ Indianapolis

12/9 @ Denver

12/23 @ Detroit

12/30 @ New York Jets

When the schedule was released, those were the two that jumped out to me, since they are both short drives from St. Louis.

But unless I'm able to pull a miracle for Bears tickets (ridiculously expensvive) I'll have to pass.

And I've suffered enough this year inside the RCA Dome. Rather not revisit the scene of the crime......

Yeah, I'll be at NZoner's bash opening dya, and I'm coming to the Green Bay game (with special guest Dane McCloud!) So we'll be hitting up the planet for tailgate and Saturday night party hookups when it gets closer.

Cool, another for Houston.

I may need to look into flying into Dallas and driving the rest of the way.

Southwest is usually super-cheap to fly into Love Field......

I plan on going to the Houston game as well. Not too bad a drive down from Austin and it is the only chance I seem to get to see the Chiefs live. Someday I will make the pilgrimage to Arrowhead but sadly it will probably not be this season.

Looks like I'm flying into Dallas if I go.

$520 for 2 people to fly to Houston. (Assuming the wife is wanting to go)

$228 for 2 people to fly to Dallas.

Rental car and gas wouldn't be anywhere near $300, and I can deal with a 3.5/4 hour drive...that's what I do to Arrowhead.

How are you guys planning on getting tickets?

Well, unless you're lucky enough to get in when they go on sale through Ticketmaster, they are pretty expensive in my opinion.

IIRC, the cheapest on StubHub was $180 PER TICKET.

Here's what Ebay has right now:

Wednesday @ 10am.

I'm keeping an eye on a couple of Ebay auctions, but will grab them through Ticketmaster if I can, and if they aren't in the last few rows of the Upper End Zones.....which they probably are....

There are two or three planteers in Chicago and a few in St. Louis that may make that game, when we talked about it right after the schedule came out.

Actually, it's better that you didn't.

Ticketmaster is pretty tough when it comes to exceeding ticket limits. If they see duplicate names, addresses, CC numers, etc, they will cancel your order.

A friend of mine actually had his and his roommates orders both canceled because they came from the same address.....

If you're looking for a deal on a hotel close to Soldier Field and the Museum Campus, I found one. It's within walking distance to the stadium and to the Red Line into Downtown. I've also heard it is the team hotel, FWIW.

The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is normally $299 a night that weekend.

Use the rate code TVL128 to receive a $119 per night rate.

So you're not going to Chicago now?

I may be able to do both.....

Once I bought the Bears tickets, I saw what they were bringing in the broker market. I sold the ones I bought on Ticketmaster for a $360 profit. Right after I sold the originals, I bought a "backup" pair that someone on Ebay had priced WAY too low, with the intentions of selling and turning another profit. And if I couldn't sell/profit, I'd use those to go to the game.

But.....I have 4 people in a bidding war right now, and it looks like I'm gonna make between $500-600 on those. *knocks on wood*

So, with a likely profit of $900-$1000 with an initial investment of $140....yeah, I might still make it to both games.....

Yes. AFTER I had already made other flight/hotel arrangements. But I did plug in the promotion code you provided and it said there were no more rooms available.

We got a pretty decent deal anyway. Through Southwest Vacations, I was able to get hotel (2 nights) and airfare for $550. Airfare alone was $350 roundtrip for the wife and I. The hotel is downtown, right on the Chicago River and only a block from the EL.

Yeah, $500 is about the lowest going rate for even decent UL seats.

The cheapest I've seen was $160 for the last row of an UL corner section, but by the time you pay the "service fees" you're looking at $200 per.

That's the biggest reason I turned my attention to the Houston game.

I knew I could make some serious cash selling my Chicago tickets, and that getting my hands on reasonable tickets in Houston were pretty good.

If you end up getting seats, let me know. Like I said earlier to Dartgod, I might still make the trip.
