My honest opinion? They suck... dont waste your money on them.. Go out and use free weights. And im not a huge fan of bowflex either. When it comes to toning up and putting on muscle mass sometimes you cant beat free weights.

Buy some dumbbells and a flat bench, you'll get more work done.

My friends dad had one and I tried it once. Easiest thing in the world and there is no way anyone gets a workout from that thing. I put it on the hardest vertical incline, and it was still a piece of cake, didn't even break a sweat. Don't waste your money on that. Having that said, DON'T YOU DARE TELL CHUCK NORRIS THAT!!!! Or you will die.

I'm in a lot of houses with my work. About 65% of them have exercise equipment in the garage. Usually covered up with junk. I wouldn't buy any of it new.

Jump up on Craig's list and do a search, there's tons of stuff. Stay away from the plastic-over-sand Sears special s**t.

This bench is decent, you could deal with the weights until you could get some Olympic bars and plates.

This is a quality flat bench:

This would set you up and I bet you could get it for $175:
