The Open rich in tradition and travisity [/Jim Nance voice]. Well The Open it is back at Carnoustie this year as many can remember how the last Open at Carnoustie finished - with Jean Van de Velde losing the open with his triple on 18 that force a playoff he lost. This ought to be a good test of golf this week. I am looking forward to watch this and the Nationwide Tournament is town as well so this will be a great weekend of golf.

If you can't get to TV to watch you can watch the last three fininshing holes on a Live Stream go to in this link (http://www.golfsurround.com/openchampionship/2007/pipeline/?pgat_cid=openchamp_tr1&vid=stream1) . You will have to register a name and email, although if you put in a bogus name and email it will still go through.

To get live scoring use http://www.opengolf.com/home/default.sps or another site with better features IMO to get live scoring and updates http://www.golfsurround.com/openchampionship/2007/index.html

To get a virtual tour of Carnoustie click this Link (http://www.golfsurround.com/openchampionship/2007/virtualcaddy/) . Or view the holes in a fly by
Here (http://www.opengolf.com/course/5.1.1_holeDetails.sps?hole=1)

Is that a joke?

No it is not. Although it is only day 1 and he will more than likely not be there at the end, although IMO it is more plausable for and amatuer to win the British just because there are amatuers all over the UK and other countris that can play a links style course unlike the US open where you have to hit it really, really long and straight. Links courses still requires some length but it requires a lot of shot making and some luck due to all the moguls, bounces off of said moguls and last but certainly not least ..... the weather.

That said I love playing golf on links courses. It is a true test of a golfers mental and physical game.

Right now it looks like it is Sergios to lose.

Hes still playing solid golf. A touch conservative on the greens but keeps maintaining the lead.

It was really nice to see him win.

Just a great tournament all around...there was a 30 minute stretch from Romero' disaster @ 17 to Paddy's nightmare on 18 with Sergio getting up and down from everywhere.....what a fun tournament to watch. Good for Paddy, who ranked @ #10 in the world is very due for his first major @ 35. Sergio will get his ..... just would've been nice to have done it from start to finish, and really gave him some confidence. Jesus his putting is horrendous. #2 ball striker.....#200 putter.

Stinger
07-22-2007, 10:35 PM
That was by far one of the .... well I am not sure how you classify it endings. Paddy stuggle on 18 and Garcia missing by less than inches on a couple of putts. I thought the weirdest/coolest thing was in Regulation when both Paddy and Garcia past each other on the same bridge right after Patty put in the water. Some photographer made a killing if he got that photo.
