For those of you who don't already know, I came to Denver and started working for Rain Man back at the beginning of this year. It's been a great experience, but I've decided to stop fighting my computer geek roots and return to IT consulting. So, as of the end of August, I'll no longer be one of Rain Man's minions.

Anyway, that's about all I've got. If any of you happen to be looking to go into marketing or demographic research, I can tell you that this is one great place to work. Give Kevin a shout if you've got a decent resume for it. Unfortunately, the work itself just isn't for me.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

EDIT: Well, cancel that.

I'll spare you all the details, but this thread is now null and void. I just can't resist a survey of female sex fantasies...

Okay, the truth can be told. I got this great resume and great interview, but when he showed up, he was an illiterate goatherd from a mountainous area of Ethiopia. We tried to teach him English, and worked with him on survey methodologies, but he was really only interested in herding goats and playing his pan flute. Then we started looking into his resume more deeply and discovered that not only does West Dakota State University not have an MBA program, but there is no such place as West Dakota State University. Nonetheless, by that point he was doing great work and was teaching our staff how to hunt wild animals, so we were glad to have him. And then he up and quits. I think he only married us so he could get into the country.

Man, I'm screwing everything up. :shake:

To answer the questions from above, I'm actually going to stay in Denver for now at least. I've got a pretty good opportunity to get some great experience and help out a guy looking to expand his business. Of course, I haven't actually suffered through a football season here yet, so we'll see how well things go.

Actually, we're not sure about that yet, Mr. Stewie. To my knowledge, there has been no direct answer to the question, "Did Mr. Rain Man pay for your moving expenses to Denver?"

There may yet be time to force this relationship into the mire of discontent.

To directly answer the question, they didn't pay, but I didn't ask. I was happy enough to actually have a job, so I didn't worry about it. And I'm not worried about it now.

As for the cost, it was probably around $400 for a moving truck, $250 for gas for the truck and two cars, and $100 or so in pizza and beer to pay my helpers on either end. Plus the typical deposits on an apartment if you're counting that. Not too bad, really.

Oh, and about $100,000 for pain and suffering. As if moving to the heard of enemy territory isn't enough, we got here in the middle of the blizzard and couldn't get into our new place for a week after we got here.

FAX
07-24-2007, 05:13 PM
Okay. So, 400 plus 250 plus 100. Let's see, zero plus zero ... carry the 5 ... that's $750.00 in moving expenses not counting deposits which will be returned to you someday, probably. Expenses that you would not have incurred had Mr. Rain Man not made an offer of employment to you.

And, Mr. Rain Man did not assist you with these expenses in any way, shape, or form. And, to date, there has been no offer to do same. Nor, I suppose, did Mr. Rain Man help you with your boxes and stuff when you arrived. Nor, did he offer to assist with calling for pizza, I imagine.

This is troublesome, Mr. DaRepost. Very troublesome, indeed.

I would discount the 100k, Mr. HemiEd. Although the number is probably pretty accurate, Mr. DaRepost knew that he was moving to Denver and all that entailed. I don't think Mr. Rain Man is obligated to pay that part.

The remaining amount is another matter, however.
