Has there ever been a game where a team had double-barrel action in the bullpen before the first pitch? If not, tonight should be the first.

I'd really like to hear Moore/Bell's explaination for why a worthless scrub like Elarton is allowed to start a major league game tonight.

What message does this deliver to the young guys on the club?

If you're paid enough, it doesn't matter how bad you preform, we'll play you anyway.

See: Brown, LaRue, MeinkeWTF, Relaford, etc, etc.....

Downside is that the Royals are forced to use their pen earlier than they probably would have liked.

Not to mention that Elarton is probably going to pitch again in the 2nd inning.

I would too as well. I hold both of them responsible for having Elarton on the roster.

Seriously, if I am a GM and if Elarton was stinking up in Triple A ball (which he was, evidently), I would had kept him in there, or DFA'ed him.

VonneMarie, I apologize for everything I said the other night.

This was almost a guaranteed blow out the bullpen game anyway. At best, facing this lineup, I could've seen Elarton having one of those 4 IP, 4 R, 5 BB, 2 K type games. Worst part is that there's apparently a huge crowd at the game tonight.

That's the point. Why should the Royals trot out Elarton, fully knowingly that he's gonna get bombed?

I'm sure the fans would had liked to see Matt Wright or Billy Buckner a shot. If they got bombed, then at least there is a reason, that it's their first time in the pros, unlike Elarton who has been sucking major goat balls ever since he stepped in the MLB level.

Sure, but it's also irresponsible for Moore to even consider allowing that happening.

Rumors have been going around that Buddy is gone after this year. Maybe Moore is just giving Buddy enough rope to hang himself.

Shit, he should be canned right now anyways. Not like we're going to win the division anyways, so what's the point of keeping him around?

I think it'd be a good idea to see if someone can actually manage better than Buddy, even if it has to occur during the mid-to-late season.

The Royals hyped this game for weeks, and then Bell throws out Elarton. I am sure there were plenty of people on the business side of things in the Royals organization that wanted to throttle Buddy when he they found out about who was starting tonight.
