Can people now understand why trading Dotel was the right thing to do?

I already understood.

I'm stunned. In the last 3 years he misses one full season to one injury, and most of another season to another injury, and now he's hurt again? (and he's still pretty old on top of all that).

Who'da thought he would break down again?

I don't think anybody was complaining about trading Dotel. The complaint was about what they got back.

We should've traded him for that batter that wasn't offered. :)

No, there was absolutely some discussion about why we were trading a "proven closer" when our bullpen has been solid this year and he said he wanted to re-sign with the Royals.

Point is, there's a reason why you count your blessings when you sign an injury prone reliever in his mid 30's, and the guy actually pitches well enough to be flipped at the deadline. That's simply solid work from a GM of a team building a young base of talent.

He didn't look all that consistent once we got healthy this year. I was afraid he'd get hurt again before the deadline. IIRC his last outing before the trade wasn't sterling.

That was my thought...

I thought it was a good gamble on Davies. Moore is going to keep trading for arms until he finds four or five that make a rotation. Some will pan out some won't. But he is clearly a believer that a starting rotation is the most important element of a successful club, and I'm not sure he's wrong.

Dayton Moore bends John Schuerholz over!

I think stealing a 23 yr old SP for a rent-a-player(already on the DL) is a good trade. How can acquiring starting pitching be a bad thing?
