We were driving around the stadium when I see these two dudes walking down the sidewalk all nonchalantly. As we get closer I tell my wife that kid looks just like Patrick Surtain. As they get closer I said, OH SHIT that is Patrick Surtain and Ty Law. I pull the car over and when I do this another guy is walking down the street and get their autographs. So I walk up to them and tell them I'm a big fan of the Chiefs as well as them and ask if I could get a pic with the kids. They both said yeah no problem and my wife takes the pic. When I get home tomorrow I will post the pic, but they were both nice asked the kids their names and gladly took the pic. I was more surprised that they were just out strolling along by themselves. Its not everyday (for me at least) you see two Pro-Bowlers walking down the street.

The 2007 preseason officially gets underway on Saturday when Kansas City travels to Cleveland to face the Browns in the preseason opener for both clubs. The Chiefs are entering their second campaign nder head coach Herm Edwards, while Cleveland head coach Romeo Crennel begins his third campaign directing the Browns fortunes.

Edwards is attempting to build on a successful debut as the Chiefs field general. In 2006, he became the first coach in franchise history to guide the Chiefs to the playoffs in his initial season with the club. Kansas City became just the fifth club since 2000 to rebound from an 0-2 start to qualify for the postseason. The Chiefs finished the year with a 9-7 record, tying for the most victories by a first-year coach in franchise annals. It marked the second time Edwards had led a team to the postseason in his first season with a club – he also achieved the feat with the 2001 N.Y. Jets – making him one of just five coaches in league history to accomplish that feat.

Cleveland is coming off a 4-12 campaign in 2006. However, one of those wins was a shocking 31-28 OT upset of the Chiefs. Kansas City held a 28-14 lead in the fourth quarter, only to see Cleveland score the game’s final 17 points behind backup QB Derek Anderson. Both clubs will be attempting to learn more about their quarterback situation in this contest. In Kansas City, QBs Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle are dueling for the starting job. In Cleveland, QBs Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson are in camp, while QB Brady Quinn was unsigned as of August 3rd. Saturday’s game will also mark the return of LB Donnie Edwards to the Chiefs defensive unit after a five-year stint with San Diego.

Up next for the Chiefs is a nationally-televised Thursday night contest at Arrowhead vs. Miami (8/16) on ESPN. Cleveland hosts Detroit (8/18) in the Browns next preseason matchup.
