I don't care how much TC time Bowe has missed. If Sept. 9th, he isn't starting over Parker........

Don't pay attention to that. Once he practices a whole week and plays, he'll move up.

This don't look good for Dunn.

He's listed at the bottom because he's on PUP and not practicing. Same reason Priest is at the bottom.

I thought Reid played better than 4th string.

I'd also like to point out that of this bunch Dunn is the only one I think of as a blocking TE.

How come we never start a QB in these things?

Punt Returner Sammie Parker??

Please God, no.......

Dropping passes happens from time to time, even to the best.

Dropping punts is NOT an option. Hopefully this changes before 9/9.

Allen 6'6" 254
Dunn 6'6" 274 with a bad back
Gonzalez 6'5" 251
Pinkard 6'5" 259
Willis 6'6" 260
Wilson 6'2" 251

While it is true that Dunn is the biggest of the bunch it is also true that the difference is negligible. The only shorty of the group is Wilson who is now a FB. Any one of those guys is plenty big enough to be an effective blocking TE. If they aren't then we need to revive the tackle elegible play a-la Joe Valerio. Perhaps Turley can be useful after all.

I'm not saying they can't block, TG has turned into a damn fine blocker but it sure seems like we're working out TEs that catch over ones that are run blockers first.

Oh, I wasn't trying to pick on you in particular; I've seen this theory posted multiple times here and it seems like a lot of people are buying into the (incorect) idea that Jason Dunn is the only TE we have who can block. Now I'm not saying that we can automatically plug any one of these guys in and get the same production that Dunn has given us but I am trying to dispell the notion that they absolutely can't do it. There is nothing inherently wrong with these guys which would prevent them from becoming great blocking TEs. As you point out, our best receiving threat (Gonzalez) has become a great blocking TE.

It's funny how LJ isn't listed just for missing training camp. He's under contract with us for crying out loud.

In all seriousness, I think our second-team defense is better than our first-team defense was under Greg Robinson, even discounting Greg Robinson's presence.

If history is any indicator, the depth chart is worthless at this point. It will remain in flux until after the final cutdown day.

Keith Willis is a blocking TE.

He's not a fraction of the blocker Dunn was. Willis is about average whereas Dunn was practically an All Pro blocking TE.

Willis has better hands, though, and can actually get open on routes.

On what are you basing your assessment? Admittedly, I don't know much about the guy outside of his bio on the official website.

Preseason and camp, 2006 and 2007.

He's available as a dump off receiver far more often than Dunn was. His hands aren't anything to write home about but he runs his routes really well. His blocking has not impressed anyone, myself included. He might as well have sat out the Cleveland game.
