In an unrelated note, Jeremiah Trotter was released by the Eagles this morning.

Hopefully we'll release Bell and some team can pick up both LB vets.

Wasn't Trotter one of the guys we were so hot after about the same time we got Barber? and Hugh Douglas too?

Athan was actually on before/after that --I don't know, I was in and out of sleep-- but I didn't make an effort to listen.

We signed Bell instead of Trotter. The Hugh Douglas thing was a couple of years before that.

We would have had Trotter, if not for that purple-upholstered limo we sent to pick him up at the airport.

ChiTown, not to threadjack (but it's my thread, so I guess I will), but are you concerned at all about your Cats at this point?

2 of our cats passed away recently and we buried them in the back yard.

With cats, there's always reason to be concerned.

Given what the state of our defense was back then, I would have been happy if we signed a 65yr old Dick Butkus to play MLB.

Well to be fair Trotter used the Chiefs for a bigger payday and I believe Bell was our second option if I remember correctly. But that 48 hour bit got a lot of play here. :)

About Damn time....(Hopefully)

Anyway we could really use him in Thursday's game but what will be the chances of him actually playing Thursday night?

Slim to none. They held Bowe out because he wasn't in football shape. Now I know LJ is no Bowe, but I don't see him getting any reps.

Yeah I agree, I think just to make sure he's rested and ready for the season they'll probably keep him out this week and probably next week. JMO. Doesn't change the fact that we still could use his help against the Saints.

The biggest thing he would get out of playing Thursday is getting reps with the first team line and QB. Other than that, there is no upside, only downside(just imagine an injury after signing an extension).

That would be a complete :cuss: Carl moment!! Of course Herm would also be to blame. But the sudden push to get this contract holdout done I think is defintely being pushed by Carl.

Why? So they can win the game? Who cares?

I can see it now...LJ signs tomorrow for close to what his last asking price was, is held out of Thursday's game and Bennett goes freaking nuts and breaks 3 50+ yard runs in 1 half for touchdowns and CP is found under a table babbling incoherently about fair market value in his suite.

I would like to see just a couple series with LJ and Croyle together just for evaluations purposes. Plus it would be nice to see if this OLine is going to make any more progress with LJ in the backfield or if it is going to be LJ pushing his way through the Line of Scrimmage again this year.

Bennett's going to get his fair share of touches this year just to spell Johnson. He shouldn't be worried at all. I think he knew his role when he came here. The media has made him out to be LJ's replacement. I am sure he knew it wasn't likely.

wasn't much doubt of LJ not getting paid ..... he's carl's boy.

right around the 3rd game of the preseason because they didn't want him getting reps anyway.

the only thing that would of stopped the LJ signing would of been a trade.

Oh, I know, but I'm also sure CP had high hopes of him (or another RB in camp) having good preseason game performances to use as a small bargaining chip.

LJ doesnt really need any reps. LT doesnt even play in preseason games. Curtis Martin used to tell Herm he only needed about 20 reps a preseason to get ready. Preseason is just about worthless unless you are a rookie or a guy on the cusp of a job.

why ... so LJ can half-ass a block on a blitz pickup and get Croyle used to getting mushed?

Dont worry, we will see plenty of them together in the regular season.

I think Trotter was who the planet wanted instead of Barber....and I'm thinking it Was Ed Hartwell that was the Viagra of the month instead of Bell.

Honestly, this is the only reason I think it hurts to have LJ out for all this time. He needs to work on his blocking. Hopefully they'll get that problem corrected somehow in a short period of time, but I doubt it.

Well LJ gotta learn to block for him sometime...Better now then when the games really count....

I think the fact Carl didn't make an offer to LJ for two-plus months is clear evidence that the length of this holdout was intentional.

That would be fine if LJ had actually participated in training camp. I'm glad he didn't participate so he got the rest but he at least needs to play in one series against the Rams next week to get some live game action before the regular season.
