We have been wanting to eat there for a few months now and always went somewhere else (texas roadhouse, on the border, etc.). We finally went last night. I love almost all seafood and really wanted the crab legs, but at 17 bucks for them I decided to eat the Shrimp pasta. I give it a 3 out of 10. Was not very good at all. My fiance ate the BBQ burger and she wasn't impressed with that either. I ate the other half and didn't think it was all that great either. I would give that a 2/10.

Does anybody like Joes Crab Shack? We will probably not eat there again unless I try the crab legs. Overall I give it a 3 on my tasty food scale.

The crab legs are adequate...not the greatest...

We go there for the atmosphere. Fun place to drink.

Joe's Crab Shack is poop on a plate. Greasy poop. Very disappointed in our trip there. Never again.

Did you go to the one off of I-70? Next time, spend your hard earned cash at the Mongolian place. Much, MUCH better.

I was real tempted to drink but had to be at work this morning at 6. Drinks looked better then anything else.

It looks like we will be going to Red Lobster from now on. Any other chain sea food restaurants in this world?

Legal Seafood is awesome, but is only on the east coast. It's the only seafood chain I'd consider to be good.

We ate at Bonefish Grill once. It was okay, but expensive. I'd give it another chance.

Joe's sucks. I ate at the one on the beach here a couple of times and it is no better than Red Lobster or any other chain restaurant. All the real seafood places are smaller, hole in the wall, family owned types of restaurants.

Yep, I don't go to Red Lobster, Crab Shack, Legal Seafood, etc. Got to smaller, family owned places or places that are local to a specific area. Generally for seafood we just go to one of the places on Clearwater Beach.

It's definitely better than Red Lobster. But it's not great, that's for sure.

It's owned by the same people who own Rainforest Cafe, so that should give you some indication on the value of the food.

You kinda have to know what to get. We usually get oysters on the half shell and po-boys at Joe's.

There used to be some pretty good seafood places in that area along Gulf Blvd when I lived in St Pete. Of course, the seafood is great here but I haven't found a BBQ place worth a crap in this entire state.

There was a Joe's by me that closed about a year ago. I ate there twice (I think). Wasn't terribly impressed.

When it comes to seafood, I prefer Japanese habachi grill/steak houses to anything else. Best way to cook shrimp and lobster, IMO.

Eating seafood in OKC is like me eating a buffalo burger on restaurant row in Los Angeles: Stupid.

I wouldn't even touch seafood unless I'm in one of the coastal states. It's just gross after having been frozen and transported 2,000 miles.

Yes. I like it okay. It's nothing sensational. Small portions of adequate tasting fried product. Fair quality, the place is kind of fun I guess. Obviously in quality; It can't be compared to any place on the beach/ocean.

Very true.

In this area there are great wings, seafood and greek food. Unfortunately there is a lack of good bbq and, unlike South Fla where there are a ton of great little places, no good family Italian restaurants.

Certainly, the coastal states have the market on fresh seafood cornered but it's not like you can't get quality, fresh seafood in the midwest if you know where to look....

I'm not suggesting Joe's has any kind of fresh seafood but there's plenty of places that do.

Ate at Frankie's on the old square in Pompano. Good family style Italian. Funny how italian that sector of Florida is. Pretty good food there.

Agreed. And I'll also add that being on the coast doesn't guarantee good seafood. About half of the places I've eaten in Florida have been overpriced and poor quality. I'm sorry, but paying $20 for a plate of fried seafood and hushpuppies is ridiculous. I can hit a catfish buffet here for $10 and eat twice as much, twice the variety, and about the same quality.

That being said, there are also some excellent places on the coasts.

You know, us midwesterners have figured out a way to mix salt and water and actually keep these sea creatures alive IN THE MIDWEST. That way we can kill them and eat them fresh.

Shocking, I know.

Legal Seafood is not even in the same ball park as Red Lobster and Crab Shack. All of Legal's seafood is fresh. I'm not saying it is the best seafood in the world, or the best value, but it is very high quality everytime. I haven't gone to Red Lobster in 15 years. Big Daddy's dog eats better than that.

Joe's Crab Shack on Seawall in Galveston, Texas was real good a few years back. I don't know if they still do it or not, but they used to send a buyer down to the fishing boats when they came in and get a good bit of fresh seafood that way.

Yeah, and you can get fresh seafood at local grocers, too. How much fresher can you get than live lobsters swimming a huge aquarium? I know there are grocers that sell fresh seafood that was caught within 24 hours... obviously flown in from the coasts.

My brother lives on the left coast and his wife is in the wine marketing business. She says you'd be surprised how often the "fresh" seafood sold in restaurants isn't as fresh as you might think. It's all perception.

Bonefish Grill was mentioned in a couple of posts. I've eaten there twice and had Ahi Tuna both times. It was prepared perfectly both times. BTW, I ate at Joe's Crab Shack once... and only once. It was bad.

IMHO the best place to eat seafood in KC is McCormick & Schmick's on the Plaza. It is fairly expensive but their fish and seafood is all fresh. They are shipped fresh fish every day and they don't have a standard menu because the menu is made up every day.

I think just the opposite wrt Red Lobster vs. JCS, but definitely agree that neither are great.

Your info about Rainforest Cafe is illuminating for me. I hate that place too. Overpriced bad food AFAIC.

I haven't tasted the po-boys at JCS, but I'd rather have a catfish po-boy at Popeye's (which I think are pretty good) than go back to Joe's to try one out.

Hell, other restaurants we go to on friday nights we have to wait 20 minutes.

Tip. Restaurants that are NOT busy at normally busy times (the others are) that's usually a bad sign.....

I was generally un-impressed with the food. Party Atmosphere..or generated one by employees..... fun once or twice.

I'm not going back.
