View Full Version : Post Lambs "game" 53 man Roster

Mr. Kotter

I'm guessing Herm plays it safe. 26 Offense, 23 defense, 4 specialists.

However, Terrell could supplant Printers.

If decent OL prospects are available after 53 man roster cuts....expect our youngsters (and Terry) to get axed or moved to the PS.

If Herm decides to keep another defender, I'm guessing Sippio OR Hannon are gone--and we go with five WRs, plus Drummond.

Wesley makes the roster if, for no other reason, than experience and his ability to play both safety spots.

Grigsby may not make the team, if Herm decides to use the spot for D...and with Wilson as an adequate "fill-in" for the FB sets, OR if they decide not to expose Allan to waivers.

Don't be surprised to see Bowe move into a starting slot....soon. Maybe even Niswanger.

QB: Huard, Croyle, Printers
HB: LJ, Bennett, Smith
FB: Grigsby
TE: Gonzo, Dunn, and Wilson
WR1: Parker, Webb, Bowe
WR2: Kennison, Hannon, Sippio
RT: Turley, Terry--OR, more likely T.B.A. (Pending scouring of waivers)
RG: Wellbourne, Stallings
C: Wiegmann, Niswanger
LG: Waters, Taylor
LT: McIntosh, Svitek

RCB: Surtain, Sapp, (Phinisee or Scanlon at LB)
LCB: Law, Poole
SS: Pollard, Wesley
FS: Page, McGraw
ROLB: Edwards, Bell, (Scanlon or Phinisee at CB)
MLB: Harris, Kershaw
LOLB: Johnson, Fox
RDE: Allen, McBride
RDT: Boone, Tyler
LDT: Edwards, Reed
LDE: Hali, Wilkerson

LS: Phillipe-Duarte
P: Colquit
K: Medlock
PR/KR Specialist: Drummond

PS Candidates: Allan, Randolph, Hunt, O'Keith (Ekwerekwu, if he survives waivers...which I doubt.) on offense: Gonzalez, Murphy, Ried, Harris, and Phinisee on defense.

JMHO.

What say you??? :hmmm:

I suspect...that notion is based on the unfounded belief, that we will RUN the ball 60-65% of the time (which seems prevalent among the sportswriters I'm reading.)

I don't think Herm will do that; thus, he will keep at least 5 WRs, plus Drummond. Don't be surprised by six WRs though.

It's not a notion. Ray Farmer is the direct of player personnel. He dude knows what's going on.

The Chiefs only kept four wide receivers under Vermeil most of the time. That's because Tony Gonzalez and Priest Holmes caught so many passes. The same will happen this year with Gonzo and LJ.

The Chiefs don't need five wide receivers.

If our director of player personnel doesn't know what's going on, our front office is seriously messed up.

Then he is bluffing.

If we keep four, it would have to be Kennison, Bowe, Webb, and Hannon. That WR lineup will not strike fear into ANYONE.

Teams will put NINE guys in the box against us; and LJ will average 3.2 yds per carry or less... :shake:

I just don't see them being THAT enamored with any of those guys to trust that they can carry the load. ALL four have questions; so you keep at least one more, to hedge your bets. Watch.

It will be at least 5 of them, PLUS Drummond.

Why will adding some scrub make a difference? The Chiefs aren't gonna be running 4 wides every other play. They don't need more bodies at WR.

If teams put that many people in the box, Gonzalez will go to town and Bowe will take the short passes and break them for big gains all day. That's why he was drafted, after all.

Possibility of injuries and lack of confidence in Webb and Hannon will force the issue....and cause them to hold onto at least one more WR, IMO.

Unless, some WR unexpectedly falls into their laps....after the cuts. Then expect Hannon to get the axe, and they MIGHT go with four. Otherwise, I'm betting on five WRs.

I understand your thinking, but the problem is you have convinced yourself the Chiefs are cutting Parker....they won't. Parker will get at least one more shot. That means keeping Kennison, Parker, Bowe, and Webb.

No way they rely on just THOSE guys, IMO. Kennison is slipping; and the the others each have BIG question marks. They'll keep the best one of Hannon/Sippio/Eck, too.

Otherwise, we become SO one-dimensional....it's a complete joke.

The Chiefs weren't one dimensional under Vermeil, were they?

They frequently only kept four wide receivers on the roster under him.

I can't remember but does Allen count against the 53 man roster for the first 2 games? If not a young guy will make this team at least for the first 2 games anyway.

The only reason Ray Farmer said we were only keeping 4 receivers was because he had no better excuse to give Gardner, he was afraid Gardner was going to go mental on him. And he did say to Gardner that if the numbers change would you be willing to come back, indicating there is gonna be a fifth receiver.

Last night Carl Peterson said that we have to cut to 53 including Allen on Saturday. Then on Monday Allen's suspension becomes active and the Chiefs will gain an additional roster spot.

Exactly, it was a test and Rod failed it. Goatboy hasn't a clue about reading people and how to use people skills. I thought it was clearly evident this is what Ray did.

Surprised Printers AND Terrell were both cut. Not surprised Harris made it though; they must have thought he wouldn't clear waivers.
