So, who was released?

It would be classic if it were Sippio. There would be a meltdown around here of biblical proportions.

The Raiders' player page on him scared the crap out of me:

http://www.raidersonline.org/james-adkisson.php
Born on September 5, 1960 in Griffin,Georgia. James Adkisson was described as a quick, multitalented young receiver. He weighs 230 lbs. and stands 6 feet tall 5 inches. And in 2005, he made tight end transition in one of his games.

Hooray! We signed a 47 year old TE!!!

(He was born in 1980 - it's a typo.)

Yes. Sippio was the 7th player added and there are 8 spots.

Dunn is on his last legs and IMO wont last the season. So this isn't a mad move.

how can they possible be adding all these guys they know very little about.

it's like another draft or something.

it also says A TON about the players they had in camp. The coaching staff must of thought they all just completely sucked.

“What we’ve done this year is we’ve had another draft at the back end of our 53,” Edwards said. “We’ve added three guys we liked leading up to the draft, guys who went elsewhere. When they became available and we claimed them (on waivers) we were able to add three more draft choices from this year’s class. That gives us 10 draft picks from 2007 on our roster.

Except that this guy is a 230-lb. WR-turned-TE. He's not a blocking TE like Dunn at all...

Turning over the bottom 3rd of the roster allows them to SAY they are making changes while they maintain the status quo at the top...

I dunno. To me, I'd rather they go ahead and cut players they don't think will ever pan out and bring in some new scrubs than hold on to the junk players in the first place. It's kind of a shotgun approach - just hoping that a player here or there will pan out.

They know enough about them to see some promise.

The guys they checked out weren't working out. What's the issue here?

They have seven of eight possible slots taken up.

The ninth is the international option, and the Chiefs used that to secure Pruneda.

I guess we're preparing for TG's eventual retirement.
He's retiring in two to four years. Might as well go through as many possibilities as there are available while he winds down his career.

We didn't do that with the OL in Roaf and Shields' final days and look where we're at.

Because it's hard to field a camp roster of 90 players who are starting quality in the NFL, I'm guessing.

Isn't that the point of the practice squad - getting a better look at prospects? I mean, it's a developmental squad as well but the Chiefs use it to scout as much as they do development. The Edwards regime really turns over the practice squad too. I think there were only 2 players left of the original practice squad in week 17 last year.
