View Full Version : Priest is a leader!

Priest has taken a lot of heat for implying that part of the reason for his attempted comeback was watching last years playoff game and realizing that the team needed a leader.

People on here questioned his leadership style, called him out for sitting out so long after suffering the neck injury, and even accused him of conspiring with Carl Peterson to be used as a pawn to gain leverage in negotiating with LJ.

In the military we used associate two terms with leadership: "Earned authority" and "given authority."

Everyone seems to be in agreement that Priest was looking for a payday after putting up stellar numbers with KC. It was unfortunate that he suffered the neck injury when he did. We seemed to forget the incredible preparation Priest used to go through to prepare himself for the weekly punishment he took on Sundays. He was option A, B, and C. A significant portion of Greens passing yards were in the form of "yards after the catch" on swing passes to Priest out of the backfield. Priest was a true leader with his grit, intensity, and effort that he gave on the field every week! In my opinion he earned the respect of his teammates with the way he carried himself on and off the field. Priest was/is a true warrior. He even earned more respect with the comments he made regarding last years playoff game. We all saw that game. LJ rolled over and didn't carry the team.

After seeing the other thread regarding LJ and his "freestyling" rap it is no surprise that Vermeil made the diaper comment. LJ is clearly very immature when he wants to be. LJ was thrust into the "leadership" role because of the injury to Priest, the position he played, and the success he had on the field. For the most part his effort on the field is solid but he didn't deliver when he was needed the most. Can anyone ever remember a game where Priest would have been shut down like that? LJ's off the field behavior and those that he chooses to associate with leaves a lot to be desired. This rap song is a prime example. Now if it proves not to be him then so be it. That doesn't change the fact that Priest would have never allowed anything of such a nature and content to ever be published.

Simple..........one has class..........the other doesn't!

That's ok. I've wanted to vent about the Priest/LJ melodrama for some time. I figured it was just my turn :p

It isn't difficult to put up a logical argument as to whether or not Priest has any gas left in the tank. I don't blame him for making a comeback attempt. No athlete with an ounce of competitive nature wants to have a career end with an injury. They all want to go out on top. Unfortunately age is your biggest enemy at the RB position.
