QB's must be at least 30 to start for the Chiefs, so probably in 9 years after he's failed with a couple of other teams.

I looove the way he came in felt some pressure from a D that was having their way with the OLine, made one good pass, and it immediately made the D respect him and there was no more 8 or 9 guys in the box action.

Croyle may not give KC any better chance to win than Huard, but that's not the point. This season isn't going anywhere anyway. So why start a 34 year old QB, and stunt Croyle's growth for another season?? It's pointless to start Huard when this team isn't even close to playoff caliber.

Let Croyle get some experience...Instead of having to go through his growing pains next season too.

MTG#10

Well my whole argument against starting Croyle over Huard has kind of gone to shit.

My reasoning was we would kill his confidence and growth by making him run for his life on every play behind our atrocious line, as well as having the passes he did get off only bounce off the receivers hands.

I must say our line is doing better than I thought and the receivers are catching better than I thought. So I guess I'm aboard the start Croyle wagon. :)

The question is, will the return of Jared Allen make a huge difference?

I am not sure if it will or not. The defense has got to better with him coming back. If they can apply more pressure to the opposition qb, that will only help the cbs and lb's be better on defense.

the Talking Can
09-16-2007, 07:01 PM

He and Bowe could back off those cheating defenses.

Can Jared Allen play QB?

Of course his return will be a positive, but the defense did not lose this game, not in the slightest. They forced three turnovers and the offense did nothing with them.

I understand that, but with the defense being that much better, it allows the offense not to have to drive 70 - 80 yards each time to score. A better, pressure filled defense will allow the offense to have shorter fields. In that case, I don't think that it would make any difference which QB was playing. To sustain long drives time after time is difficult to ask an offense to do. That is what I was trying to say but wasn't able to do so. evidently...

LOL indeed

Croyle puts some much needed Zip in this offense, Huard doesn't have the confidence or the arm to put pressure on a Defense.

I am sure LJ would have had much more success running If Croyle was in there streching the defense all day today.

I'm gonna post this reguardless of being a newb to this board. Croyle is not the QB of the future, imho.
Theres a reason he was always hurt and on the sidelines in Alabama. He's too small to play in the NFL. While he may have an arm, it takes more then a strong arm to be a good quarterback.

While I may be wrong about this, I wanted to toss out my 2cp while I can. So that if they day eventually comes too where I could say I told ya so.

I also don't think Huard is the answer either. To be honest w/ ya'll I dont think the QBotF is on our team, nor do I know who it is.

I thought it would be better if Croyle got to start on the road just incase he threw an int, and he wouldn't have to hear the booos. Croyle gives us the best chance to go down field and score TDs, and win games.

There is a reason why Huard has been a back up QB for 11 years.
At what point in a guys 11 year as a back up does he say I want to be a starter trade me to a team that I can compete for a starters spot?

I see Huard starting the home opener. He will do a better job of running the check down offense and our Defense will create some big plays. I see us winning.

Then we go to San Diego and keep it close for awhile, then lose big. Huard sucks bad. Fans once again scream for a change at QB.

We then start Brodie Croyle back at Arrowhead against Jacksonville where we have six of the next eight games at home.

As much as I would rather see Brodie start next week. I think this is the plan and has been since shortly after the 3rd preseason game. Obviously the Chiefs braintrust Carl, Herm, and Curl (shudder) thought Damon would do a better job.
