You'll take my life but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through
So when you're waiting for the next attack
You'd better stand there's no turning back.

The Bugle sounds and the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath
As I plunge on into certain death.

Iron Maiden -- "The Trooper"

Here's a verse and a chorus to add:

If my soul could revive
From my carnal remains
What does it matter to me
If it all fades to black
If I'm born once again
There's no-one really is free
How could I be condemned
For the things I've done
If my intentions were good
I guess I'll never know
Some things under the sun
Can never be understood

How can we believe in heaven
Human reason counters all
Ideas of a soul society
My life is just a fragment
Of the universe and all
There must be more than I can see

Heh. Good one. I've always loved the lyric for some reason. Here's the opening line from the song:

Christ...can't remember song title, but is Wilco, no?

Yup. Opening track off YHF, "I am trying to break your heart." Probably one of my favorite wilco lyrics.

I am an American aquarium drinker
I assassin down the avenue
I'm hiding out in the big city blinking
What was I thinking when I let go of you

Let's forget about the tongue-tied lightning
Let's undress just like cross-eyed strangers
This is not a joke so please stop smiling
What was I thinking when I said it didn't hurt

I want to glide through those brown eyes dreaming
Take you from the inside, baby hold on tight
You were so right when you said I've been drinking
What was I thinking when we said good night

I want to hold you in the Bible-black predawn
You're quite a quiet, domino, bury me now
Take off your band-aid 'cause I don't believe in touchdowns
What was I thinking when we said hello

I always thought that if I held you tightly
You'd always love me like you did back then
Then I fell asleep in the city kept blinking
What was I thinking when I let you back in

I am trying to break your heart
I am trying to break your heart
But still I'd be lying if I said it wasn't easy
I am trying to break your heart

Disposable Dixie cup drinker
I assassin down the avenue
I've been hiding out in the big city blinking
What was I thinking when I let go of you

Now your patrons have all left you in the red
Your low rent friends are dead
This life can be very strange
All those dayglow freaks who used to paint the face
They've joined the human race
Some things will never change
Son you were mistaken
You are obsolete
Look at all the white men on the street

CHORUS

Clean this mess up else we'll all end up in jail
Those test tubes and the scale
Just get them all out of here
Is there gas in the car
Yes, there's gas in the car
I think the people down the hall
Know who you are

Fight her all you want you'll never win
Couldn't we just once leave her in bed
Let the dry air cut her happy throat
Hide her heart and lose her happy head

What is a juggalo?
Let me think for a second.
Oh....he gets butt naked

Then he rolls down the street winkin at freaks
With a 2 liter stuck up his butt cheeks

Song lyrics for our congressmen:

"Throw out the tyrants,
The aged fat cats
Outlived their usefulness
They have led us to this mess
Make them answer,
Hold them to their promises,
And throw them in the street
If they won't tell the truth"

"S.O.S. and red alert
All across the universe,
Calling all honest men
S.O.S. emergency,
Sinking fast and getting worse,
Where's your honest men?
To your stations,
Man the ramparts
The barricades
We need new heroes urgently"

Actually, I was just listening to the song on my Ipod here at the office and posted some of the lyrics. Especially, since they are perfect for an election year.

So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
Then he bummed a cigarette
And ask me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his face lost all expression
Said „ if you’re gonna play the game boy
You gotta learn to play it right

LOL! I don't think I know any of these. A guitarist I used to play used to say he never knew any lyrics to songs, not even when he was the one playing them- he was just concerned about getting music right. I must be getting that way too because I know some of these songs, but besides the Iron Maiden song you guys really stumped me.

Here's my entery into the game:

"You're perfect, yes it's true, but without me you're only you. Your menstruating heart, it ain't bleeding enough for two."

Fax, is it Nicolette Larsen or Phoebe Snow?

Nope. I'm pretty sure no one here has heard of her, Mr. BigChiefFan. I base that on the fact that no one I know or ever have known has ever heard of her ... until I introduced them to her, that is.

Her first (I think) album is well worth the money if you can find it.

I find a window in the kitchen, and I let myself in
Rummage through the refrigerator, find myself a beer
I can't believe I'm really here, and she's lying in that bed
I can almost feel her touch, and her anxious breath!

I'd have a much better chance of guessing who sang "I am stumped as a three-legged, peckerless bunny rabbit with no ears and a sort of vague expression."

My guess would have been Warren Zevon, but that's not important now.

Early man walked away
As modernman took control
There mind's weren't all the same
And to conquer was their goal
So he built his great empire
And he slaughtered his own kind
He died a confused man
And killed himself in his own mind, Let's go!
