Well, what is it? I watched the game last night, and he seems the real deal. Does he qualify as a first round gem?

Consistency will be the key.

He can't have a great game, then disappear for 2-3.

We haven't had a WR who could go up and get throws in quite a while.

And the adjustment he made on that pass that was WAY behind him was phenomenal.

Hope he can keep it up.

While I think he could be something special, it's a bit early to label him as a gem.

I'm still not convinced the Chiefs will score 15 TDs this year, much less Bowe by himself.

But, it's a nice thought.

Not really saying much but he's been our best offensive player so far.

The consensus is that he has played in 3 games.

He could be Michael Irvin, he could be Michael Clayton. We don't know yet.

He is the best WR on this team. I would say that qualifies him as an excellent 1st round pick.

He's a player in NFL now. Flashes / playmaker capability.
Longivity key.

So far I like what I see.

He's not sucky.

I'm withholding further praise till the end of the year. Or he does something really excellent.

Gem? No. Gem would be if he were a 5th rounder playing at this level.

To date, he's playing to his draft position. Let's hope that will continue.

All that depends on how successful the QB will be at getting him the ball. Bowe will clearly get open and catch the tuff ones. hopefully we have a qb that can consistantly get him the ball.

I like what I've seen do far that's for sure. IMO the presence of Bowe has actually made Parker play pretty well.

He should be exactly what he has been the first 3 games - a good big reciever kind of like Keyshawn that will occassionally drop an easy ball. That's what he was in college.

Most WR's don't make much of a contribution their 1st year in the league, regardless of draft spot.

He's wowed me, and I like the upside he may end up proving his worth, but I will agree that it's not like we grabbed Coulston out of thin air. Chiefs' fans have just been so used to WR not panning out. Our last legit WR picked by us was Joe Horn- 3rd round, 1996. Too bad we let him bounce...

Agreed. Having Bowe, Gonzo, and Eddie all need to be stopped, and then any time Parker is in he can run deep routes to strech it even further. Make this work and the running game will get going making the passing game get even better and make screens and play action work.

So far, so good.
Actually, I think he's already exceeded expectations.

I think if we can continue to get him the ball we'll see that we hit the lottery with this pick.

and WR that seems to be on track (no jinx or SlyMOs) to be a very good NFL receiver.

Joe Horn..1996 that seems like forever.

if we're being technical, horn never really did much as a chief to justify matching what the saints were willing to give him, IIRC (I've been wrong before)

so, ya have to go back longer than that for a WR we drafted and developed on our own (maybe carlos carson)

Parker should feel threatened from every direction. So far, he's manned up and accepted the challenge. He's even lowered my hatred level of him down to a strong dislike.

So, keep up the good work, Stonehands. By the end of the year, I might only find you mildly annoying. :thumb:

And Bowe ROCKS. Can't remember a Chief WR making those kind of catches with regularity. Hope he keeps up the great work.

Horn, was consistently stretching the field and showed glimpses of promise- he simply didn't get the ball as much as he should b/c he was too stupid to realize that if you passed 15 yards deep you became invisible in the Chiefs O at the time

He didn't do much because we only used him as a 3rd down "possession" receiver.

Joe Horn was a 5th rounder.

If Dwayne Bowe was drafted in the 7th round (like Marques Colston last year by the Saints), I'd say he was gem.

So far, he's playing to his draft position, regardless of whether or not OTHER drafted receivers played to their draft spot.
