Think about it. If we ever start actually throwing down field to the point teams have to start playing 8 tops in the box our O-Line might actually be able to block the crap out of people.

After getting your ass kicked blocking 10 guys on HB Dive plays you would think only having to block 7 would make them lick their chops heh?

They've done well in pass coverage...can't really judge them on run blocking because of all the 9 and 10 man fronts and us trying to run it up Weigman's ass the entire game. Run blocking could be better but can't blame it entirely on them. You can't basically tell a defense that your going to run, and where your going to run and expect to be successful...well we pretty much did when Vermeil was here but that was with Willie and co..

Exactly. It's hard to expect any line to block for anything against 9 and 10 man fronts.

I liken it to swinging a heavy club for a bit then a light one. If we can squeak out wins against 10 man fronts we should be able to really slam a 7 man front.

Maybe Air Edwards will make our line look good next week!

I just chuckled at this....the line is rather average in all honesty....overall it's actually a little below average.

It'll only get better with better players, it is what it is.

Did anyone think Mecca would say anything else?

It's true, it's not like any of them are young or going to get better. Some of them are already declining from the Center-RT side of the line.....McIntosh is what he is...

In the next 2-3 years we need 4 new lineman......it sucks to be in this spot.

Bah. Let's just keep drafting Olinemen in the 6th and 7th rounds. It's worked to provide us with young depth so far, right? Right?

LOL, that was always so brilliant, nothing like guys like Brett Williams, I still remember throwing shit when they took him over Brandon Lloyd. Not that Lloyd has been great but at least he's still in the league.

The problem is... well, yeah, they were picked in the 6th and 7th rounds for a reason. If we would only "piss away" some earlier picks on linemen, we might be able to have something positive.

;)

Let's see...

LT = FA
LG = homegrown undrafted free agent
C = FA
RG = FA
RT = FA

yep, that policy has worked wonders for us.

If we would just start passing every down and get the defense to play all eleven as safetys and corners we MIGHT be able to keep them from sacking our QB.

It's actually becoming very funny.

He'd complain if Carl traded for Joe Montana.

How about if we spread out 2 receivers on each side of the O-line with LJ as the single back? If D's put 7 players max at the line of scrimmage, we get one-on-one coverage on all 4 receivers; 6 defenders at the line of scrimmage still gives us 1-on-1 pass defense on 1 side of the line; 5 defenders on the LOS gives LJ a great opportunity to bust a big one.

It appears, though, that Herm and Solari aren't allowing Huard the option to check out of a run play and go to a pass play (or vice versa). WHY NOT?

There’s some logic to that. The best run Larry had was out of a single back, 3 WR formation. It got called back because of a week holding penalty against the WR on the side he ran to.
