View Full Version : Receding Hair?

For you bald folks out there, when did you first notice that you were losing your hair? Recently I've noticed that when I rub my hand through my hair a few times, about 5 hairs (plus or minus) come out in front of me. Is this normal for men, or is this the first sign that I am starting to lose my hair?

Also, depending on your answer, does Minoxidil or Propecia work? :)

Your life as you know it is about to end. Welcome to Pariahville, where you'll be made fun of every day, discriminated against, and laughed at. Women will shun you, men will pity you, cats will inexplicably lick your head when you lie down. You will never go outside on a sunny day without a hat again, and when you do go out, people will snicker and say, "He's wearing a hat because he's bald and vain," when you're really just trying to keep from getting sunburned. Haircuts won't feel good any more, and your personal style will be forever redefined as "stodgy", no matter how cool you are on the inside. You will envy starving Sudanese on TV as their afros blow to and fro in hot desert winds, and you will develop a respect for Matt Hasselbeck. Welcome to the godforsaken fraternity of bald brothers.

So in a long-winded way, you're saying I am going bald? Well, thanks for the invitation to the club. Does this mean I have to like Larry David?

You don't have to like him. You just have to respect his pain. It's probably a lot like when former Vietnam POWs see each other, except for us the pain never ends.

When I got some skank in bed, I usually just pull a big chunk of her hair out and staple it on my head.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Thanks for the support in this trying time.

I'm holding on as long as I can. If you have longer hair, leave it alone. Don't shave it short until you're ready for baldness.

Once I go completely bald, I've made the decision to just shave my head all together. If that makes me a racist, so be it.

I, unfortunately, am turning 30 next month. But, I've been losing my hair for about 7 years already.....at least.

I've never had to worry about it, but if I did, I'd just shave it. Go the "Bruce Willis" route.

My old boss gave me hell because he was losing his, while I had a full head of hair and shaved it off.

I'm 25, soon-to-be 26, and I've been thinning since I turned 21. However, my thinning has gotten a lot worse in the last 6 months and and I'm finally starting to recede/bald pretty quickly.

I keep my hair short anyways, so it's no biggie, really.

I just turned 26. That said, my hair isn't noticeably receding. I'm just now realizing that I have a lot of hair that comes out when I rub my hand through my hair.

Luckily my hair is fairly thick and curly, so hopefully that will help hide it for awhile if I do start going bald.

I'm so pale, I'm afraid I'll look like a cancer patient if shave it all off.

I started going bald at 21. That was about the time I began my descent into a succession of short lived relationships. Some a few days, some a few weeks, some a year or more. By 30 I was completely bald and things kept getting worse. Woman after woman but no permanence. Sure, lots of sex and lots of fun, but none of the long term commitment a man so dearly craves........I just wanted to be held.

By my later 30's I was afraid this might go on forever. There seemed to be no end in sight. Luckily, that was when I met Mrs. RJ and the curse was ended. Now, at 48, I have even less hair but I am thankful that my 33 y/o wife doesn't mind.

Yes, it was a tough 20 or so years but I somehow got through it, cueball head and all. :)

It helps if you don't have an oddly shaped head.

I know a guy that shaved his head, and it was... horrible. (OK, not horrible, but he thought so.)

He grew what hair he could back... but I'm sure he'll end up wearing a rug.

Thanks, and same to you.

Yeah, I did get a young one, even though I wasn't trying to. Just got lucky, I suppose, and we're very happy together. If everything goes as planned, seven years from now will be the first time I've had sex with a 40 y/o woman......so far as I know. :)

My point? After all these years I still have no idea what women want, but I do know that its not hair.

Do not rub your "hair"!

Going bald depends on how you look @ it.

Mine is just relocating to the ears and nose.

Because his head is shaped like a cinder block.

My father in law had that same problem. I feel sorry for my 5 year old son... due to the mom's dad hair inheritance thing...so we put Propecia in his milk as a toddler.
