Idiot. MLB awarded the playoffs to TBS, yet very few get TBS in HD. Playoffs not in HD? Insane.

"No one is more curious to see how the playoff battles shake out than the people at Turner Sports, who will broadcast Monday's 7:37 p.m. ET Wild Card tiebreaker between the Padres and Rockies, as well as all four Division Series on TBS for the first time as part of the new long-term contract with Major League Baseball. TBS will also carry the National League Championship Series, while FOX will handle the American League Championship Series and World Series."

At least Fox will have the AlCS and the World Series.

According to posts on AVS forum, several TWC outlets will be adding TBS HD this week (but you may lose a couple of analog channels in the process).

They just started broadcasting a few shows in HD on TBS, but very few providers carry TBS-HD.

Here in the north Baltimore area, this very morning October 1st Comcast Cable just added TBS HD on channel 231. I guess it was done to coincide with the baseball playoffs, so somebody is paying attention.

Direct tv only has TNT HD. This freaking sucks. ALL professional sports should be brodcasted in HD now days. WTF are they thinking. Especially when it comes to post season play.

Why does HBO only have 1 HD channel for direct tv? makes no sense.

What bothers my ass is that TBS was working fine during baseball season, but now it requires a "Access Card" for me to get access into the NLDS.

Are you f**king kidding me? How can I get around this?

Just a heads up -- Dish Network and TBS caved into the pressure, and TBS HD IS NOW AVAILABLE on Dish Network.

Selig given 3-year extension

By ANDREW BAGNATO, AP Sports Writer

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Bud Selig was given a three-year extension as baseball commissioner through the 2012 season.

The unanimous decision made at Thursday's owners' meeting came two days after Selig and union head Donald Fehr testified before a congressional committee that both criticized baseball for its steroids problem and praised the sport for strides made during the past three years.

"I'm proud of what we've accomplished but there's much work to be done in many areas," Selig said.

Selig will become baseball's second-longest-serving leader behind Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who was the first commissioner from 1920-44. Selig had said repeatedly since December 2006 that he intended to retire after the 2009 season, but many in baseball didn't believe him.

"I did wrestle with it. I spent a lot of time agonizing over it, mainly with myself," Selig said. "But they really convinced me."

Selig said he won't accept any more extensions — although that is what he said after the previous one.

"This is clearly it," he said. "I could say this without equivocation."

He became acting commissioner in September 1992, when clubs forced out Fay Vincent. After saying he wouldn't take the job, Selig was elected to a five-year term as permanent commissioner in 1998 and gave up running the Milwaukee Brewers, the team he bought in 1970 and his family sold in 2005.

Owners voted in November 2001 to extend his term through 2006, then voted in August 2004 to extend it through 2009. He will be 78 by the end of the latest extension.

"This was coming completely from the clubs," Red Sox chairman Tom Werner said.

Selig, who pushed for interleague play and wild cards in the postseason, predicted more change over the next five years.

"By the time I leave, you won't recognize the sport," he said.

Selig received $14.5 million in the 12-month period ending Oct. 31, 2005, according to Major League Baseball's last available tax return.

Baseball's labor contract runs through the 2011 season and its national television deals with Fox, Turner Broadcasting and ESPN run through 2013. Revenue, which was $1.66 billion when Selig became acting commissioner, topped $6 billion last year. He projects them to top $6.5 billion this year.

"This is the perfect person at the perfect time," Oakland owner Lew Wolff said.

When the Mitchell Report on drug in baseball was released last month, Rep. Cliff Stearns called on Selig to resign.

"Certainly, a lack of leadership and oversight in MLB enabled these abuses to continue," the Florida Republican said then. "After 15 years of slow action, a new commissioner is needed to guide the league out of this era of drug abuse."

I was at a Brewers game a couple of years ago when Uecker was inducted into their Ring of Fame (or equivalent). Selig, a former owner of team, made a brief speech and was booed mercilessly by the Milwaukee fans - he was clearly pissed, and it was really funny.

I doubt if anybody likes this prick outside of the MLB owners. He and that asshat Fehr may be too of the most unlikeable human beings on earth.

Jesus Christ. Why does he deserve to be on longer? This clown was one of the person responsible for the steroid era.

He also wanted to move the Twins out, but that failed, as well.

This clown is a joke.
