Just looking at some stats on NFL.com and I guess I had no idea.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=0&statisticCategory=TACKLES&conf=ALL

1 Marlin Jackson IND FS 40 31 9 0.0 -- 2 1 0 0 0 1 1 0
1 Barrett Ruud TB LB 40 32 8 0.0 -- 2 1 0 2 2 3 2 0
3 D.J. Williams DEN OLB 38 28 10 1.0 -- -- -- -- -- -- 0 -- --
3 Patrick Willis SF LB 38 29 9 0.0 -- -- -- -- -- -- 1 -- --
5 Ernie Sims DET OLB 36 26 10 0.0 -- 2 1 0 5 5 1 -- --
6 Nick Barnett GB MLB 35 24 11 0.0 -- 5 2 0 40 38 0 -- --
6 Angelo Crowell BUF OLB 35 20 15 0.0 -- -- -- -- -- -- 0 -- --
6 DeMeco Ryans HOU MLB 35 31 4 1.0 -- -- -- -- -- -- 0 -- --
9 Napoleon Harris KC LB 34 24 10 1.0 -- 3 1 0 4 4 1 -- --
10 Stephen Cooper SD LB 33 19 14 0.0 -- -- -- -- -- -- 1 1

I thought he had been underperforming and don't recall his name being called all that much. I guess these numbers mean he is performing better than I thought.

Harris has been all over the field lately. I like the way he leads from the MLB spot as well. He seems to be able to get the Defense lined up the way it should. I was tired of watching Kawika Mitchell yelling before every snap only to see the opposing team run right at him.

He is a real middle linebacker, our first since Marvcus.

Absolutely. It's funny when we played Minnesota they sounded like they couldn't be happier that he was gone.

I don't even think he has the physical skills of Mitchell, but he has a football head, he plays smart, takes smart angles...

Mitchell played like was retarded. He always took the wrong angle, he never saw the blocks coming.

That's some high praise.

I love our LB corps. DJ has the speed, Donnie has the awareness and Nap just makes tackles.

He was pretty sucky. They drafted him in the 1st round so they were expecting monster numbers. He is a solid player who doesn't make to many mistakes.

It's not out of the ordinary for a MLB to lead a team in tackles, expecially when you're a solid open field tackler. Then with the offense playing like they did the first three weeks of the season, he's had PLENTY of opportunities to make tackles.

Carl Peterson did a great job with free agency this year.

Of course, he will get no credit because he's Carl Peterson.

At his rate, he still has a way to go before he gets to a 0 balance.

He did pick up McIntosh who's done well. We're going to need a new center next year though

Yeah, McIntosh has been a rock solid addition...

We've faced four pretty good rush defenses, and we didn't really show any sort of a passing attack until the second half of the Minnesota game...

Hard to run when you can't pass...

But we have that all fixed now, Kennison is back, Bowe has emerged, and the coaches are taking the pressure off Damon by letting him do what he does best...HEAVE TO THE PLAYMAKERS!

Play makers after 3 games, yes 3 because of stats for Bowe week one.

Hard to pass when you can not run for a full 16 games as well.
Thats why they call it balance.

McIntosh is no Roaf, but I'll agree that Edwards, Harris, and Boone have been solid adds on D. Letting T Rich go last year still pisses me off, and Welbourne and Svitek aren't cutting it.

Our RT, RG and FB wouldn't start for almost anyone else in the league.

Only sometimes does sheer volume of tackles equate with being a terrific MLB. DJ Williams is a decent MLB at best for Denver and he's made loads.

But Nap Harris has been an amazing addition, plain and simple. He is a far more sure tackler and a more reliable leader than Kawika was, and can literally make tackles anywhere on the field -- LOS, in the flat, deep in the secondary, etc. He's fast, he's got good vision, and he's got good enough hands to pick off passes when he needs to.

If you're going to sculpt a Cover 2 defense around a mike, he's your guy. 250 lbs with impressive speed and solid leadership. He's no small reason why this is the #3 defense in the league.

How good is it to have our ML be our leading tackler instead of a saftey?

You're right. That whole writing v. verbal thing always throws off the interpretation. :)

T-Rich was a HUGE loss...

I agree with that completely.
