Dave Meltzer says Rock turned down the invite because he's not currently making any public appearances before he starts work on his next movie.

Hey, Rock: nlm

He also said they tried everything possible to get Bret Hart there, but he had conflicts with his the publicity tour for his book. The ending they wanted was for Bret to be the final guy to beat up Vince.

And re: the earlier talk of Wrestlemania, Cena's opponent was supposed to be Batista.

He seems Ultimate Warrior type weird. The rap album, there's other examples, but I'm too stoned to think of them currently. Vince has always stayed away from those guys. I had no idea Waltman had been invited back. I figured we'd see him when they brought back Degen X. I figured Road Dogg would be back too. Didn't he get fired for smoking pot? That was what I heard. I'm pretty sure he's in TNA now? I haven't watched for a while, just kind of getting back into it since Y2J came back. It's just not as good as it used to be. As far as Randy goes, he was a star in his own right, but he could never touch Hulk, you can't blame Vince for making that pick if it's what it came down too.

Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are in TNA...they weren't and likely will never be invited back because of comments they made in a shoot after leaving.

Saying things like "HHH is a no good mother****er" "If I ever saw him again I'd kick his ****in ass" "I'd like to splatter his big nose across his face"

They basically ruined any chance of ever coming back, it was discussed then they found out about that and the idea was dropped.

I'm just gonna post this here because I've seen it a few times now, and every single time I lose my shit because it's so absurd.

"Chavo Jr. & Animal beat Misterio Jr. & Kidman. Schiavone was waiting all day for the line talking about Misterio Jr. wrestling in Mexico, and then said, Mexico is bordered to the south by Guatemala, not Nicaragua, as everybody knows. For the other three million viewers who don't have any idea why he said this, it's because 11 years ago, there was this guy who did a wrestling newsletter named Steve Beverly who had the ear of a guy at TBS named Jeff Carr. Carr made the call that WCW Saturday Night should only have one host, and it was Ross. Schiavone was so mad he went to the WWF for several years. He's hated Beverly ever since. Anyway, last week on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire', a contestant was asked what country bordered Mexico to the south and called Beverly for a lifeline and Beverly said Nicaragua and his friend hesitated, but went with Beverly's pick, and was wrong." - The Wrestling Observer Newsletter: February 05, 2001

Maybe this is assumed, but it's gotta have Taker vanshing, IMO. Like he wins the belt, does that thing where he drops to one knee and holds it up, then the lights go out. And when they come back up, Taker's gone and the belt is laying there.

And I know it doesn't really count, but I can't imagine anything ever beating Macho Man's retirement at WM7 where he reunited with Elizabeth. This would be close, though.

Usually when a wrestler retires, they have their ass handed to them in their last match. I was at Wrestlemania when Rock demolished Stone Cold. Why would Undertaker be any different? Everything I've ever read, is it's better for the wrestler, and the business for him to get beat down like a donkey in his last match.

I honestly think that's bullshit, because it totally devalues the belt. The next guy to win it will be seen as a paper champion because he didn't go over UT.

Of course, I can't really stand the Undertaker because he's put over fewer people than Hogan, and fancies himself as some kind of lockerroom Rommel, but that's probably another argument for another time.

Like it or not, Jericho hasn't been over, his return speech the obvious exception. I didn't think he was going to win today, and it played out the way pretty much everyone expected. He's back in the midcard now, hopefully with a slower build rather than a burial. And he did have a virtual pin (or tapout) tonight, rather than straight up losing to Orton, so he's shown to the unwashed masses that he's capable of beating the champion, so he's still theoretically in the title picture.

He and JBL could be entertaining, too. At least on the mic.

I'm wondering if they won't take Jericho heel eventually.

You were already wrong about Armageddon. Hardy went over HHH, albeit in as unimpressive of fashion as possible. (You can't truly say HHH gave him *any* rub in that match...he even acted like it was a joke afterwards).

Again, I told you that you can't trust those dirt sheets all the time.

It may be HHH vs. Batista, but as of now, it sure as shit looks like HHH v. Orton.

Hardy gets a token shot at the rumble, loses, HHH wins the rumble, and beats Orton at WM 24

Actually, Orton chucked Jericho into JBL, and then as he was going after Orton, he shoved JBL out of the way. As soon as you saw the look on JBL's face, you knew it was going to happen.

I'm just pissed because sans run-ins or DQs, that was going to be a ****+ match. I know a lot of people don't like Orton, but he can really bring it as a heel. It's some good TV watching this week's impact with the script in hand.

I... I couldn't do it. I avoided even recording that shit this week.

On the other hand, Colin Olsen was on ECW again! Awesome!

I've made it through hour 1. I'm about to plunge headlong into hour 2.

As is always the case with TNA, most of the wrestling is good. And they need to drop all the f*cking wretched angles.

Hey, at least the MMG are Tag Title no 1 contenders now. Until Sunday probably, when they'll doubtless be somehow humiliated by the Fat Dudleys and Johnny Devine.

The wrestling's good, but the matches are either four minutes long or hacked to bits by commercials (not to mention the unbearably bad commentary), so I never actually enjoy watching them. TNA's just... pathetic.

****ing pathetic.

The commentary may be the worst ever.

It's almost enough to make me like Michael Cole.

Almost.

I actually prefer TNA at this point. I got tired of the WWE and every match ending with a DQ. Too many big ego so no one really ever wins or losses cleanly anymore. I was a WCW man for the longest time and when they went away I stopped watching for a few years. I think the pure wrestling is much better in TNA but the mic work is generally better in WWE. I also like the angles a bit better in TNA. The whole Vince's bastard son thing was one of the dumbest story lines ever, combined with their retard story line and that is what WWE has come to.

I think TNA has better young wrestlers. How old is Samoa Joe?

TNA ruined Samoa Joe. He went from being an unbeatable force to Kurt Angle ending his streak in a meaningless match to a whiny "babyface" that the fans hate so much that they cheer "thank you Tomko" when he loses a tag team match against heels where his partner leaves him to fight 1 on 2.

Apparently the only good feud they've had going, Gail Kim versus Kong, ends tonight with Kong getting the belt finally. They'll ruin Kong the same way they ruined Joe, just give them time.

And AJ Styles? Christ. He's gone from being "Phenominal" to being a running gag. Best guy in the whole company turned into a joke heel.

Everything and everybody in that company is the same. Every "contender" for the belt, just a guy. No stars. Nobody dominant. Every tag team, a couple of guys who can't get along.

It's a joke.

TNA is so bad it's unwatchable now.

Thank god for ROH, that's all I have to say.

Samoa "Big, fat, stupid, dumb dummy dumb face" Joe. It's amazing how horribly they handled Joe-Angle and, over time, reduced both of them to utter insignificance.

I actually enjoy AJ's retarded manchild character, but in true TNA fashion, they've taken that and ruined the world title picture with it. God forbid they just have ONE ****ING WORLD TITLE MATCH THAT ENDS DECISIVELY. EVER.
