Missouri suspends basketball player
BY MIKE DeARMOND The Kansas City Star

Missouri on Thursday suspended senior forward Darryl Butterfield following his arrest on Wednesday night for third-degree domestic assault.

MU men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson withheld comment Thursday but issued a statement saying Butterfield, pending resolution of the matter, would not be allowed to compete in a game.

Butterfield is being allowed to practice with the team.

Butterfield was released by Columbia Police after posting $1,000 bond. He was arrested after a dispute with a girlfriend, according to a source close to the situation.

During the summer, MU senior center Kalen Grimes was arrested on felony assault in St. Louis after Grimes allegedly struck a man in the face with the butt of a shotgun. Grimes was kicked off the team, depriving the Tigers of their leading rebounder from an 18-12 team a season ago.

Butterfield, a reserve forward, averaged 14 minutes, 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds a game last season.

Third degree? Meh. Call me when it's at least a second degree.

And if you give them enough time, they'll get to KU's level of shame. :shake:

Predictable, Saul.

KSU and its band of misfits have grown to epic proportions. With the players now calling Coach Martin "Frank", it's pretty clear who is running the show.

The KSU tutors (those not being investigated by the NCAA) will need to be working overtime with this bunch.

When does Sutton come in - seems like that date keeps getting pushed back every day.
