WALKER'S KNEE WORSE THAN ADVERTISED?

A league source tells us that the re-injury to the knee of receiver Javon Walker, which received a new ACL two years ago, is believed by some to be worse than reports indicate.

Though, as we understand it, the knee is not yet to the point of needing microfracture surgery, the removal of cartilage via arthroscopic surgery will only increase the chances that Walker will need to undergo at some point the crapshoot procedure aimed at stimulating the growth of scar tissue that then simulates cartilage.

Questions also are being raised about the decision to delay the surgery. If, as coach Mike Shanahan says, Walker is expected to miss only a couple of weeks, why not 'scope the knee so that part of the recovery period would have included the bye week?

UPDATE: A reader asks if there's any truth to the rumor that Shanahan wants Walker's knee to take a lie detector test in order to find out if it's really injured.

Bummer for him. I wonder if he'll recover or if he might just be done.

My coworker and I....jk

actually i heard on radio shows last night that many think the knee will bother him and may force him out for the year, either way he won't do much.

Yes it is, and yes it's bad news. And it wouldn't surprise me Oz, if Denver drops 2-3 more in the next 3-4 weeks, if they do go ahead and shut him down for the season.

I just saw Rod Smith's name pop up on RotoWorld for the 1st time in a long damn while. Man, if they are hopin he'll come back and help them, that's about as long shot as if Priest wanted to come back andd...oh wait.

Let's recap...

- Donks trade 2nd round pick for Javon Walker, who's supposed to put them over the top. They miss the playoffs instead and now there's serious questions about the knee that he hurt in GB prior to the trade.

- Donks sign Travis Henry even though he already had 2 strikes against him in the league's substance abuse program. He's currently doing everything possible to keep the 3rd strike hammer from coming down on him, which would put him out of action for a full year.

- Donks sign Simeon Rice to give them something resembling a pass rush. Rice, still injured, now openly admits that he regrets signing there.

SHANNY'S ON A ROLL! Before long we may be able to add "traded up for Jay Cutler" to this list.

the Donkos seem to be in a place very similar to KC and Marty at the end of his run...bad drafts and bad FA signings lead to increasingly desperate FA signings...things start to fall apart...it is probably time for the Rat to hang it up in Denver...

Don't forget Warren starting and doing well in Oakland.
