Pretty good signing, can't believe he didn't make the raiders or the cards squad though. Maybe Hermy can't make chicken salad out of chicken shi...

There was a rumor that the Raiders cut him by mistake. Anyone else ever hear that?

P.S. - That link says that he worked out, did they in fact sign him?

The link just said that he worked out - not signed.

However, I would be in favor of the Chiefs taking a run at this guy.

Not only effort, but Ryan Sims-like effort.

There's nothing loss if they sign him to the practice squad.

they won't leave a roster PS spot open, with Bennett gone.

Won't Priest be filling Bennett's spot on the 53 man roster?

About halfway down the page there's an interesting typo...

"Chiefs coach Herm Edwards was on Tampa Bay’s stuff during the late 1990s when Oakland coach Lane Kiffin’s father was the Buccaneers’ defensive coordinator, and Edwards was a mentor to the younger Kiffin, then 19 years old."

Must be a bad rumor because the Faiders are not jumping to resign him.

Oakland’s starting defensive tackles Warren Sapp and Gerard Warren did not practice for the second straight day because of injury.

What are the odds they are out? Is this just resting the vets?

A top-flight athlete who failed to meet expectations last season, Moses is watching his draft stock free-fall. Did not play with a great degree of intensity as a senior and was a non-factor at the Senior Bowl. May get consideration at outside linebacker in the NFL, yet clearly needs to quickly get his game back to prior form.

Two-year starter who registered 33/12/4.5 as a senior after career-best numbers of 44/20.5/11.5 the prior year. All-Conference selection as a junior. All-Academic pick in the past.

Pos:

Athletic, pass-rusher coming off a disappointing senior campaign. Explodes off the snap with a quick first step, possesses speed in every direction and immediately alters his angle of attack or redirects to plays. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself, gets tremendous force going up the field and exploits immobile blockers. Displays a solid head for the ball, transferring his classroom intelligence onto the field.

Neg:

Seemingly suffered from a case of senioritis last year. Did not show top instincts and did not always chase hard to make plays. Undersized, is slow to shed blocks or easily removed from his angle of attack by blockers. Does a bit of grab-tackling.

I like this guy's frame, mostly. Love lanky DEs.

We should sign him, sit him down, tell him to shadow Jared Allen during practice. There is something very important you need to learn from Jared Allen on how to play defense...learn it, show it, or you're back on the street.

All this guy needs is to put in the effort, and he might actually have a career.

Well, he's in our grasp now.

Our DL could always use the beef.

Carl will sign him as leverage for Jared's contract negotiations. Just like he brought Priest back.

I say sign him to the practice squad. What's the risk? Even if he is a lazy bastard. Who knows, maybe Herm can help him "find religion" again?

Apparently the Raiders had two lists of players, one was of keepers and the other was people they were going to let go. They forgot to add Moses to either list. When someone asked Kiffin what they should do with him, Kiffin said to add him to the list. He meant the keepers list, but the person who he told thought he meant the other list. Quentin got cut, Kiffin thought Al Davis was going over his head, and then everyone realized it was a clerical error. The Cards picked him up when they realized they could, and I guess he hasn't been doing much there. If we got him, I don't see him being that big of a help.

Once again, Peter King on Quentin Moses (http://raisingzona.com/2007/09/03/peter-king-loves-the-quentin-moses-addition/): Something stinks in Oakland. The Raiders released third-round defensive end Quentin Moses. When I was in Raiders camp, there was talk of him starting this year. Smells like a disagreement between Al Davis and Lane Kiffin over the final roster. To me, it’s a terrible mistake. Moses will play, and play well, in the NFL, and the Raiders will be embarrassed over this. The Cardinals claimed him. I bet he’ll be starting for the Cardinals by Oct. 1. What a dumb cut that was.
