Best darn quote gets show to change name

You may know the story about how Herm Edwards has been reluctant to appear on Fox Sports Net’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period,” mainly because he objects to the word “damn.”
Well, apparently the show’s hosts and producers have found a way around that.
Chiefs associate director of public relations Pete Moris has confirmed that Edwards will tape a segment on the show on Oct. 30 via satellite from Kansas City. It will be a special one-time show renamed “Best Darn Sports Show Period.”
“We were willing to do anything to get Herm on the show, including renaming it,” said the show’s host, Chris Rose. “Herm is such a good interview and we’ve been wanting to get him on so long. We can’t wait.”
Moris also taped a phone-in interview for the show, confirming that Edwards has agreed to go on the show. That segment will air tonight at 9. No word on when Edwards’ segment will air.
“Coach told me to play along with the whole thing,” Moris said. “They’ve been making all these offers to get him to come on, like two Royals tickets to opening day and stuff like that. But coach told me ‘Hellllo! Tell them I want Lakers tickets!’ ”
The show’s staff also got Edwards a T-shirt that reads “Herm Edwards Best Darn Sports Show Period.”
“Herm is arguably the best sound bite ever,” Rose said. “I’m serious. Because when you ask him a question, he really takes the time to answer it. It’s not just coach talk or just football talk. It’s sincere. And we love that, which is why we he’s had this open invitation to be on anytime.”
The show even has a regular segment called “Inside Herman’s Head” with an animation of Edwards’ head opening and sound bites coming out.
Rose said his pledge to Edwards is that all the show’s hosts will curtail any bad language when he’s on.
“We really don’t have that much bad language,” Rose said. “It’s certainly not any worse than what you hear in the NFL on the field from noon to 3 p.m.”
