ll signs point toward the Chiefs activating running back Priest Holmes for Sunday’s game at Oakland, but the club has until 3 p.m. today to make a roster move.

Holmes, who has been out for two years because of head/neck injuries, took a full load at practice on Friday for the third straight day.

“In my opinion, he’s about as good as he’s going to get,” said Chiefs coach Herm Edwards. “The only thing you don’t know is when he gets tackled and hits the ground, and can he hold on to the football? He hasn’t had any contact … he’s been knocked around in practice, but he hasn’t had any contact. He’s done everything you can do except play.”

So why not go ahead and have him fill the spot on the roster vacated by the trade of running back Michael Bennett?

“I like sleeping on thoughts like this,” Edwards said before the club departed for Oakland. “I’ve got another day. I think better when I’m on the West Coast … the ocean, the breeze, we’ll figure it out.”

I'm sorry but it makes me nervous for the Chiefs to not activate Holmes. Bennet is a good #2 option and granted it was good to get 2 picks out of him. But it doesn't seem like a good idea to have 2 running backs on the team. I'm not counting FB's because we have a TE and a LB filling in those spots.

I don't imagine Derrick Ross making a come back either. As we have enough problems w/ running the ball and don't need to have the ball hit the ground.

Considering they still have a roster slot open for him, they might as well activate him. It is not like they HAVE to play him tomorrow.

It would make sense for CP to activate him, bench him and then play him for the first home game.

I'm beginning to wonder if all this "wait until the last minute to make a decision" stuff is completely fair to the player.

I'm sure Priest already knows, he is simply waiting until the last minute to keep Oakland from knowing. Maybe he thinks it will give us some competitive advantage.

Good point, Mr. jjchieffan. I hadn't thought of that.

Sometimes, I make the mistake of assuming Hermoine is actually telling the truth.

keep Chokeland in the dark may work.

they are likely trying to game plan for him anyway, they have to consider it.

San Antonio (AP) -- There will be no comeback this season by Priest Holmes, leaving the Kansas City Chiefs with an uncertain Running Back situation yet again.

Priest has decided to retire again.

So, at this point, we're all praying that Kolby Smith grows up a whole lot in a small amount of time.

Trading Bennett... seems unwise.
