Someone asked this on another BB I go to. Wanted to get your takes.

What is hidden yardage?

The consensus over there is that it's yards not shown on offenive stats. Some of the items people have listed have been:

Returns
Fumble recoveries
Penalties

Pretty much...especially returns.

When Drummond gets touchbacks.
That seems to be the only way he gets any yards.

Way too true. On the other hand Dante hasn't been proving us dumb for trading him.

Oh, I never thought we were dumb for trading Dante. However STL does have an awesome returner on their practice squad.

I think he has been hurt AND he returned a punt for a TD...

??? I'm not aware of who you mean.

I'd also like to point out that our "coverage" team has looked like the French army in WWII. Aren't they allowed to run into someone and knock his ass on the ground? That would be start.

We got a decent pick for him and his play hasn't made me miss him too much. I'm not sure Dante would have gotten us another win with the coverage we have.

They keep the hidden yards under the turf. You can see them if you pick up the corner of the field and peek underneath.

I hear ya! When I was up at Training camp, I couldn't believe how good this kid looked. He was also having INT's in practice. Bad move on the Chiefs IMO

Oh. Promising. Maybe. With the way Drummond's played I would much rather have taken a chance on him too.

I don't think it's ALL Drummond...

I agree, there's a couple of posts higher up to that effect but a younger potentially better (at least ATM) candidate would have been the smarter choice since it seems a lot of our personnel decisions are aimed at the future.

I think the best example of hidden yards would be the yardage gained on a coffin corner kick as opposed to a touchback. Pin them at the one instead of the 20 and you pick up 19 yards of field position.

Are hidden yards like most of Huards passing stats??? You know like 85% of his passes that go for 3-5 yards in the air and 8-10 for YAC by the WR..

Yes Gochiefs he did have the 50yarder to Bowe where he had to slow down and get tackled for.. We are counting that as one of his 15% aberations..
