WTF?

Fans know they are going to see exciting football and usually the Chiefs are going to win. The team’s worst record since 1989 was 6-10. You’ve got to go back to the 1988 season, the year before Peterson and Marty Schottenheimer arrived, to find a Chiefs team that won fewer than six games.

So for 18 years, they’ve won at least six games. That’s a history of success that only the Pittsburgh Steelers can match.

You hear that, Chiefs fans? WE'RE SOOPER SUCCESSFUL!

Yes, we've been much more successful than the Patriots or Cowboys in that time

:rolleyes::shake::banghead:

This kind of praising mediocrity is the reason this team hasn't won jack in the last 20 years

It's just a major typo.

That’s a history of mediocracy that can't be matched.

Heh. The Kansas City Chiefs' definition of success: "Sure, we haven't been the Super Bowl since Nixon was in office, but only the Steelers haven't had as many REALLY crappy seasons as us."

Bob "Mr. Centripetal Force" Gretz.

If 6 wins is the definition of "success" then we've done a great job.

That whole article is nonsense. He hand-picked possibly the most ignorant, copycat email out of the 100's he probably received and made that writer look stupid.

I'd kill for Gretz to try and respond to any of the emails I've sent him. Probably about 4-5 over the last 2 seasons. Not once have I heard anything back from him. He only responds to the idiots. They type of fan that says, "You know, I think that K-State should scrimmage against the Chiefs!!"

I'm normally not a Bob Gretz "hater" per se, but I read this article and felt nothing but shame and disgust for the organization.

6 wins in a season is now the magical number for "success" over a period of time? Did they seriously post that on the team official web site?

Don't even get me started about the "losing seasons only guarantee you high draft picks and easy schedules - which don't ensure future success" line.

An embarassing, embarassing article for this organization. The fact that it's posted on the team's official site is even more of a disgrace.

Go check out the Colts or Pats website and see if they have anything even remotely close to this.

Garbage posting like this isn't something that championship organizations do. It looks petty and weak in the eyes of other organizations and fans - and it should.

This is something that Clark needs to put an end to. Carl's paranoia about the media has reached ridiculous levels and HAS to be nipped in the bud.

Yep totally agree. Heck the Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since 93. To me that is embarrassing.

This franchise isn't even close to be called successful until they can win a playoff game or 2 and make it to the SB. Until then all they are doing is living off the past.

When the chiefs start losing (yes, this year) then there are going to be a lot of people jumping back on the wagon that a lot of us on The planet are on. We are not drinking the 2007-8 Chiefs AFC Champs kool-aid.

Dump Huard and start playing players like Sippio, Croyle to see what we got, and see what we need to get in the offseason. If Croyle pans out, I seriously think we could be contenders next year with a few key additions on the O-Line. If Croyle sucks, we will need to find a QB also.

Get him some playing time? yes

I guarendamntee you if Bowe wasn't a 1st round pick, he wouldn't have seen the field yet. These players need to get in the game to figure out what they can do! And look how good it worked for Bowe!... bailing Huard out of some poorly thrown balls.

I have a feeling that if SippiHBO was showing it in practice, he'd be doing it in real games. Right now he can't even get on the field for a snap, let alone catch a pass.

I am really not that familiar with the KC media (other than GOCHIEFS) - does this guy Gretz have any sort of resume? or does he work for the KC Chiefs organization? I am sure he does not consider himself a "real" sports journalist? He cannot possibly write this, go home, roll into his bed at night and think he has done a good job of investigating, ruminating upon and reporting the true nature of this franchise???? It would be impossible to read that (and some of his other homerish drivel) in any objective and tell yourself as a journalist (and my daughter is one) - "job well done!"

I actually feel sorry for him that he has sold his journalistic soul for access to Carl and the KC management. It is far better to accurately and non-biasedly(?) report on a team and over time gain their respect as a journalist as opposed to ass-kissing or blind knife-wielding (a la Whitlock) ..

There must be a sports journalist in KC that is respected and not of their ilk? and that does not stoop to name-calling of other journalists in the media like kids in a sandbox!!?!?!?

The last team that KC beat in the playoffs ... the 'HOUSTON' Oilers. KC then lost in the AFC Title game to Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed. Seems so long ago... wait, it was.

Four years later the Oilers became the Titans ... and they've won 4 playoff games since becoming the Titans. Hmmm, they lost a SB as well.

I agree that Gretz was ridiculous in implying that the Chiefs are a top 5 team in terms of their success over the last 20 years - but his larger point about how the best QB's typically do not come from the top 5 draft picks is well taken. I think he's right that nothing good comes from losing.
