Oh my how I hated that song.

That song reminds me of another terrible rap song that was played non stop but I don't remember who sang it

It went something like "All I wanna do is a zoom zoom zoom and a boom boom" maybe?

Only if rap was still half as good as that...

Probably my favorite album ever, any genre. Damn I can listen to that over and over and not get tired of it. Art of War was amazing as well.

2pac - All Eyez on Me should be somewhere on this list....

True. I loved All Eyez on Me but for whatever reason I was insanely addicted to the Makaveli (The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory) album. I played the living hell out of that. I personally think that was his best.

I heard that EPMD was outstanding so I went out and bought their Greatest Hits CD which I hated.

Never liked KRS-1.

ahh yes,

BIG was decent, but not a top 5.

Although I'm not the best person to judge Rap anymore since I hate the genre, those were my fav albums back in the day.

I never enjoyed 2pac's music. I did enjoy him as an actor though.

Although I would never admit to hating 2pac on the wrong side of town, some people would eat me like a pack of wild dogs for that statement.

They aren't rival siblings.

Hip Hop is the culture that encompasses Rap music.
Hip Hop is a strip mall... Rap is a store in that strip mall...

Makaveli was another "press play and leave it alone" album.

ROFL Everytime I think of that album I hear the "interview" before "To Live and Die in L.A."...

..."He talks about killing people....'I wanna see you deceased'...."

"...I had sex with your wife, and not in those words..."

I do appreciate some of the newer rap. But for me, I'd throw in a good old 2pac or Bone album or something and listen to that over some of the new stuff any day

Yeah, that was a funny intro to the song

That album was I think 2pac at his best in my opinion. He was angry, but, poetically angry, if that makes sense. Just an awesome overall album. Talking about it - I need to throw it back on the old iPod and give it some listening again. I loved Blasphemy, Me and My Girlfriend was unbelievable, but Krazy was near the top as far as best song on that album for me.

Because of the talent level of today's Top 40 artists?

vincent

I heard one of the pioneers of rap (although I can't remember who) say, "The difference between rap and hip hop is, Hip Hop grew up, and Rap still thinks it's real."

...or something to that effect...

..."Don't quote me boy, cuz I ain't said shiiiiit."

Other than Luda and Weezy, I can't really think of another current rapper who is worth shit...

Top 40, though???

Jay-Z ran the charts for a while a few years back...

Nas always seemed to be more under the radar to me, with the exception of a few songs.

Outkast, I can't say enough good things about them, but its been awhile since Speakerboxxx/Love Below...

I'm a big fan of all these guys except Lupe Fiasco, but I was trying to think of rappers with songs in recent top 40 lists...
