Hootie

No way the Bulls are trading Hinrich...Gordon and Kobe on the same team makes no sense...if Kobe comes, Gordon is going...

Also, Wallace was a 'bad' signing, but it was only a 4 year deal, and the 4th year will be a great 'expiring contract' year...plus it was heavily front-loaded.

Hootie

"A deal can't get done because they won't include [Luol] Deng," Johnson said Tuesday on TNT. "And without Deng, a deal can't get done."

No way the Bulls trade Hinrich...

The deal has to be Deng, Gordon, Noah, filler + a pick otherwise it won't work...

If they trade Deng and Thomas I will be SEVERELY pissed...Kobe and Skiles aren't going to work, anyways.

Trade rumors involving Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant coming to the Bulls just won't go away. In fact, they are getting hotter and heavier by the minute.

The latest, as reported by WSCR 670-AM, has Bryant coming to the Bulls as part of a three-way deal involving the Sacramento Kings.

Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich and Kings forward Ron Artest, a former Bulls, could wind up in Los Angeles.

The rumor was also being discussed on WMVP 1000-AM.

A Bulls source denied any deal was imminent.

I, as an avid Bulls fan, can not possibly see the Bulls trading Hinrich and keeping Gordon UNLESS they have another deal where Gordon is sent out for a PG...because Farmar isn't the answer (that's for sure) and Kobe + Gordon isn't going to work...that's a nightmare.

I have no problem with Deng, Gordon, Noah, draft pick for Kobe...Deng + Thomas = no way. Hinrich leaving makes no sense as well...

The only deal I'm ok with that is fair for both sides is the one I mentioned.

I'd be SHOCKED if Paxson traded Hinrich in a Kobe deal...not only does it not make any sense, but Hinrich + Nocioni + Thomas + Wallce is a perfect starting lineup compliment to Kobe...that way Kobe can take all of the shots and none of those guys are going to bitch.

Fantastic.

I don't even want to see Kobe on the Bulls. The Bulls have the leverage, no one else does...

I guess they make a point when Jordan and the Bulls never needed a PG...Kobe Bryant doesn't need a PG...Kobe has never played in a PG based offense.

BUT STILL - I don't like Kobe, I'll be receptive to him being a Bull but I like the team we have now.

I love Tyrus, but what were the Bulls thinking when they traded Aldridge for Thomas last year? Aldridge would be the perfect fit for the Bulls this year...that guy is absolute stud and he has a very polished offensive game.

Eh, I guess I changed my mind on Hinrich while thinking harder about it...the amount of time Kobe handles the ball makes him a lot like Jordan, and the Bulls never had a PG that was responsible for handling the ball like Hinrich does...because Pippen or Jordan brought the ball up the court...just like Kobe does.

Plus Hinrich makes around 10 million per so the Bulls wouldn't have to trade half of their team to hit the 25% of Kobe's salary...

I'd love for it to be Hinrich, Noah, scrub, scrub I don't want to see Tyrus go =(

We'd have to unload Gordon somewhere else for something though...

That trade makes more sense. That way they would keep Hinrich and not sell off half the team.

No !@#%$% that deal is dead.

From a Laker perspective it makes less than no sense.

Artest is awful, his game has regressed for the last 4 seasons and he could be had for much MUCH less than Kobe.

The Lakers would view Wallace as a negative. They have Mihm, Brown and Bynum all at the C position. They like Bynum enough that they've refused to deal him for a piece that would appease Bryant. They also threw the MLE at Mihm this offseason and picked up Brown's 2 year extension. Needless to say, they're a fan of the centers they have. Wallace would only block Bynum and he has a HUGE (see also: terrible) contract, possibly the worst in the league.

So in essence the Lakers would be giving up Kobe Bryant for less than Ron Artest.

So yeah, that deal is dead. In fact, I'd bet any body part I have that this deal was never, in fact, alive. Stupid rumor.

I still think somehow they keep Wallace.

Something like this:

Bulls: Kobe
Lakers: Artest, Gordon, PJ Brown (for the salary basically)
Kings: Thomas, Duhon

Also won't happen.

I'm telling you, Buss will not deal Bryant for scraps and Phil Jackson is not an Artest guy.

If the Lakers don't walk away with Deng + either Thomas or Hinrich, they won't deal (unless it turns out to be Deng, Noah, a first and Gordon, but even then they might not as Gordon is not a Jackson guard, Noah has no offensive upside so they still couldn't score and the first is likely worth nothing coming from the East). They'll ride Bryant out and let him walk in '09, freeing up his cap # for someone like Arenas (a Cali product that would love to go to LA).

Bulls fans, you're trading for the most dynamic offensive force in the NBA (who plays all-star defense to boot), you probably oughta be prepared to, I dunno, give up something in return.

This isn't the NFL or MLB, you do not trade 3 dimes for a quarter. One superstar is worth more than his aggregate value.

IMO, if the Bulls make this trade they became the Lakers of 06 and the Lakers all the sudden become the Bulls of 06.

The Bulls don't need Kobe. I wish we could be a fly on the walls in Chicago inside Paxson's office and get his reasoning as to why he thinks he needs Kobe and is more than willing to gut his team (one that built) for him.

Also, Kobe will bitch and moan like he does in LA when he realizes that he is right back where he was with the Lakers---losing.

Fraz,

The Bulls announcers are idiots, you won't hear it on their telecast.

DJ's Left Nut,

Get real. Kobe's contract and prior BS is killing his trade value. Laker's are going to have to chew on his contract and deal with it. You're just being a homer idiot to think they're going to get even value- let alone any real long term value.

Chicago holds all the cards. They have a buffet of young promising talent, and with Kobe having final say in any trade, Lakers are F()CKED!

Lakers aren't getting Deng, Kobe has already expressed he'll kill any trade that includes him. Bulls won't trade Hinrich, and have said he's off the table. Other than that, you're not getting more than 3 players from the Bulls directly, or probably 2 upper tier players in any 3 way trade.

Face it, Kobe is getting moved, and the Lakers aren't getting even value. That's the price you pay when you give a player an absurd contract. Stephen A. Smith went over the details and it's absurdly ridiculous.

Deng and Gordon is a good deal for the Bulls, IMO. They can still have a really solid 8 man rotation with a clear alpha dog in the clutch. I don't know if they could beat the Spurs even with Kobe, since they don't have a true inside game, but they'd be death on the perimeter.

Whatever big fella.

Kobe's not going anywhere if the Lakers don't get a halfway decent haul. The Bulls don't have any leverage, nor does Kobe. Kobe's still under contract with LA and he'll never end up where he wants to be, at the price he wants to be there at, unless he cooperates with LA.

There are no contending teams with cap space in the next 2 years. Without cap space, teams can only offer the mid-level exception. In other words, the only way Kobe goes to a contending team is if the Lakers trade him there or he goes there for the MLE. He is not going to sign for the MLE, so he has to get the Lakers to agree to a sign and trade. If he doesn't waive his no trade, they won't. If he doesn't play ball now, they won't.

If he doesn't exercise his opt out, his no-trade is automatically waived. At that time the Lakers can do whatever they want with him. That's also why Kobe's contract doesn't hurt him. He'll be in the same boat if he chooses to opt out of it. If he does, his team won't have Bird rights so he's unlikely to get his money with another halfway decent club.

Kobe does not have leverage. The Bulls do not have leverage. Anyone that thinks anybody but LA is in control of this thing does not understand the NBA salary structure. That is also why the Lakers are far better off letting him walk than taking some dumbass deal like Artest and Wallace, 2 guys that would clog up their cap and not permit them from grabbing a Max free agent like Gilbert Arenas.

As for being a homer, I'm from Columbia, MO...not quite. Maybe the guy that thinks the Bulls are going to get the best player in the NBA for the two main principals in the darkest moment in recent NBA history (who happens to be from Chicago) is the homer here. I mean c'mon, do you really think LA ever considered Wallace and Artest on the same team? Those two guys nearly brought the NBA to its knees in the Palace 4 years ago. As stupid as Mitch Kupcheck is, he's not that stupid.

The idiot in this thread? I'd say that falls firmly within the camp of the guy that thinks the Bulls are holding the cards in this deal.

What?!?!?

You mean they didn't just take whatever the Bulls offered and thank them for it?

Color me stunned.

While I agree the Lakers are not completely screwed and can get somewhat fair value for Kobe given the right circumstances, NOTHING would surprise me in the Kupchak era.
