More important, the coaches poll has the three teams ranked the same way.

Remember, BCS standings do not consider AP poll results.

Thats true, but the BCS is still only half of the national championship. The AP poll controls the other half, and a split championship is still possible.

Looking at BC, its obvious the voters were just waiting for the Eagles to lose a game so they could toss their asses far down the list.

Similarly, if KU loses in the next couple weeks, the voters will probably crap all over KU.

OU hasn't been as good a team as their teams of 2000-2001 since then. They have had some good teams since then, but none were championship caliber. I don't see this team as being any different.

OU's sos is 55 to KU's 70. I think I can understand KU being ranked higher if you look at the big picture. They are undefeated, and that is very hard for a BCS school to do.

I don't see any reason why Kansas would move ahead of Oklahoma specifically after this weekend. If KU was going to be ranked ahead of OK because they have no losses, then they should have been over Oklahoma for a while. There is nothing that happened this weekend that indicates KU should move past Oklahoma.

You'll be OK lil buddy, when KU wins, you won't fall far losing to a team higher up in the ranks. :D

You can laugh and point all you want. But these points are UNDENIABLE:

1. The only reason KU is undefeated is because they didn't play Oklahoma in Norman.

2. The only reason MU isn't undefeated is because they did play Oklahoma in Norman.

But it all begins to die on November 24, when Missouri will pound your fraud asses into the ground much like we did Colorado yesterday. Then you get demolished in whatever bowl game you go to, since you'll rank high enough to play against another truly good team. No more KUpcakes will be forthcoming.

On paper, it'll look great - 11-2. But in reality, it's nothing more than adequately mopping up against bad teams until you FINALLY ran into some good ones. And we'll all know the truth. Just as we know the truth now. Gayhoax Boy.

I think there have been a lot of KU doubters all season. Every week KU wins and there are less and less of those doubters. Plus, KU putting up 76 points on a BCS school probably opened up a lot of eyes.

That's pretty normal. 7 in the SEC is not uncommon, either. It just still amazes me of the quality depth. 3 teams in the West, 4 from the East. If you look at "receiving votes" they have 9 teams being considered for rankings. Yowza.

I dont think thats likely. The oddsmakers couldnt care less who is the better team, they are trying to figure out the gambling public's perception so they can get equal money on both sides of the line. Right now, that would probably favor KU, maybe -3

Beating Vegas...

By Ryan Wood
November 4, 2007 | 4 comments

Some of you KU football fans out there may have started betting with your hearts from week one and letting it ride through week nine.

To you guys, I ask: Can I borrow $100?

Obviously, those who have saddled up to the Jayhawks and bet on them every week are feeling fat pockets these days. Kansas has covered the spread every single week, with the exception of the Southeastern Louisiana game because there was no spead (though I imagine it would have been less than -62).

The Jayhawks have demolished it at certain points (beating Central Michigan by 45 when the spread was -8) and have squeaked by it at other times (beating Colorado by five when the spread was -4).

But they've always given those who trusted them a little extra cash in Las Vegas. Every single time.

Along with other, more important perspectives, Kansas is chasing recent Vegas history as well. According to Phil Steele's jam-packed college football preview, no team has gone undefeated against the spread this decade. As of right now, Kansas is the only team in 2007 with a chance to become the first.

Here, according to Steele's magazine, are the top teams against the spread since 2000 (regular season games only):

Louisville (2004): 10-1
Maryland (2001): 10-1
Rutgers (2003): 10-1-1
Texas (2005): 10-2
USC (2003): 10-2
LSU (2003): 10-2
East Carolina (2006): 10-2
Nevada (2006): 10-2
Central Michigan (2006): 10-2-1
Navy (2003): 9-1

Seven other teams have gone 9-2 against the spread and eight more have gone 9-3.

What do those teams have in common? Nothing, really. There are three national champions among the top eight (Texas, USC and LSU). But the 2003 Rutgers team went just 5-7.

For Kansas, being 8-0 against the spread is a distant last place behind being 9-0 overall and the slew of other milestones it's reached this season. But it is a good argument to counter those who say KU's schedule is the reason it's gotten as far as it has.

After all, the Jayhawks are playing consistently better than what even the Las Vegas experts could have guessed. And for anyone who's ever cursed at a sportsbook in southern Nevada during a warm fall afternoon, you know that those experts are pretty darn good guessers.

Bet the farm. Remember 1988? OU had beaten us 3 times in basketball. They were clearly superior to us. But we both won through the brackets and met in the Final Four. We both won the first game and met in the NC game. Guess who won? Yep, KU 82-78. Oklahoma collapsed after that and has never been a factor since. This happened about 10 miles from Arrowhead at Kemper Arena. Deja vu all over again.

The table has turned so to speak. Last week MU had the tougher game & this week KU has the tougher game. MU proved themselves against CU while KU had a walkover in NU. This week MU has a walkover in TAMU while KU has OSU.

I guarantee you, in 1988, OU was ABSOLUTELY SURE they would beat us. Why not? They had beaten us 3 times that year. So I had to listen to all their shit for two months about what they were going to do to us. Then we kicked their ass and they disappeared. And haven't been seen since. You MUrons are very inexperienced at winning anything. When you get the slightest vestige of a good team your mouths start running. Win something and THEN talk about it. You dipshits have NEVER been to the Final Four in a really important sport.

IIRC, they're going to announce the time on the 17th. Which is a real pain in the ass for me trying to make travel arrangements. I assume, however, that neither squad will lose in the next two weeks and that this will end up being the biggest non-bowl college game of the year, so it will probably be the prime time game.

I think there have been a lot of KU doubters all season. Every week KU wins and there are less and less of those doubters. Plus, KU putting up 76 points on a BCS school probably opened up a lot of eyes.
I'm not sure what I think anymore...it seems like either team could win at Arrowhead. Hanging 76 on anyone is impressive. Having the husker's score 39 on your D...I don't see a way for you to stop MU's offense. Anything could happen. The only thing I see for sure is its gonna be a good game.

so if KU loses to OSU on Saturday that will effect what time they play the game?

The Big 12 can invoke the right to hold slotting teams into TV positions until six days before the game something like four times a season.

That's a good weekend to do it - lot of traditional rivalries (aTm/UT, Colorado/Nebraska/kansas/MU). I'd expect MU/kU to get the prime spot - either the ESPN night game or the ABC afternoon game - no matter if one of them loses. As long as one of them wins out into that game, it will have national implications. If both win out? Oh, man...

Nov. 1, 2007

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kickoff for the Kansas-Missouri football game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday, Nov. 24 has been narrowed to two possible times.

ABC Television, which has invoked its right to a six-day selection for games on that day, has announced it will televise either the KU-MU game or the Oklahoma State at Oklahoma game at 7 p.m. That means Fox Sports Net, will televise the other game at 2:30 p.m.

ABC will announce its selection after games on Nov. 17. The 7 p.m. game will be a split national broadcast.

I agree with Sure -Oz.. Two programs having some entertaining victories in 2007.
But the idea put forth by Jayhawk fan that the whole BCS process should be turned upsidedown if their precious "Hawkletts" don't make a BCS bowl game this year just kills me.

Wow, I haven't read this whole thread so if this has been addressed, NM. I would just like to know WTF this came from? I have not seen or heard anything about this from Hawks fans. That would be putting the cart before the horse, IMO. We still have some business to take care of first. And if we don't, that point is moot.

Thats true, but the BCS is still only half of the national championship. The AP poll controls the other half, and a split championship is still possible.

That is incorrect. the only NC given out is the BCS. Who the sports writers choose is of little matter. They don't play the game...they aren't coaches...they're sports writers. They don't matter anymore.
