The Wizards will announce today that they’ll play their home games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in 2008 and 2009 because of renovations at Arrowhead Stadium. The baseball diamond will be converted to a 110-yard-long by 70-yard-wide soccer field by reconfiguring part of the outfield wall and covering the dirt infield with sod — the pitchers’ mound will not be in play. Temporary seating will be added to bring capacity to around 10,000 — the Wizards’ average attendance at Arrowhead was 11,639 in 2006. The club has been working on getting a permanent soccer stadium built before the 2010 season.

Hell 10,000 is more than the Royals were drawing when they sucked, I don't care what number they had in the box score the next day.

Arrowhead isn't a good experience for that game though, in an intimate atmosphere everything is better.

I remember an interview a few years ago and someone in Chiefs Org said they couldn't do Field Turf because of the Wizards and the MLS stating that they play all their games on grass.

I think they would draw better if the product on the field was better. I went to game a couple years ago and it looked like a bunch of grown men trying to kick a ball into the net.

When the league first started FIFA did not allow artificial fields. All that changed several years ago. There are several brands of the artificial turf that are now a legal playing surface. Fieldturf and SprintTurf are two of them.

There are MLS teams that play on field turf, at least one in Salt Lake and one in New York (which has had field turf for probably 5 years now).

Has nothing to do with Field Turf but listen to the Scottish Pizza Guy at the following link. HILARIOUS.

Like I said this interview was several years old and at the time that was the excuse for not going to field turf.
