Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib is one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, announced today by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

The award goes annually to the best defensive player in college football.

Other finalists are Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis, who was last year's winner; LSU tackle Glenn Dorsey; Virginia end Chris Long; and South Florida end George Selvie.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 3.

Good for Talib. So I would assume he's in the running for the Thorpe Award as well then.

Also, Dorsey is a beast. I've only seen one game in which he did not just completely dominate.

Any list without Sedrick Ellis is worthless.

Yeah, I think Dorsey probably deserves this award the most.

BTW, I'm pretty sure Talib is on the Thorpe list, too.

I think it would be great if we drafted chris long then his dad would have to come to at least some games and root for his son (aka: Chiefs). Pay back!!!!

Chris Long was suppose to be one of the best sleeper picks in the draft. I guess this eliminates anyone from stealing him.

He's good, but is he really THAT good? I've seen him get burned a few times, and while I know that every defender gets burned eventually, he never really stood out to me as being good enough to be the best in the country.

His athleticism reminds me of Champ Bailey.

What makes Talib really interesting at the pro level is his size, he's 6'1" or 6'2". Most guys that tall can't swivel their hips fast enough to play the CB position which is why lots of corners are 6'0" and under. With NFL receivers getting taller and taller, I imagine his stock will go up and up depending on his pro workout.

LMAO

Talib is a great college corner. I have my doubt it will translate to the NFL. Nor would I spend anything higher than a 3rd round pick.

I like Talib. That said, he's gotten burned whenever he's played a top-level reciever. Purify and Nelson had success against him. Bowman probably would had Talib not ripped Adarius' knee in half with that low tackle.

I think it's Dorsey's to lose. The media is in love with him.
