I wanted to see more of him the last two games, but they stubbornly fed Priest the ball.

This kid can take 20 carries and do something with it. I wish you guys could have been there in training camp. Kolby was a BEAST in the first two weeks. The coaches were raving about him.

He runs real low to the ground with INCREDIBLE power. The legs on this guy...my god, he is built like a tank. He hits the hole HARD (we saw this Sunday) and catches the ball well.

I think we're all going to be pleasantly surprised with Kolby Smith.

You talked up Croyle and Pollard in training camp also and the first time they struggled you instantly said they were busts and that they suck. I have a feeling that if Smith averages 3.5 ypc this game you are already going to start calling him a bust.

I think we're all going to be pleasantly surprised with Kolby Smith.

Betcha he'll end up with a buck fifty after ripping off some huge gains against Oakland. Problem is.... you won't really know what you got until he has to play against a real defense.

sidenote: Kolby was Michael Bush's backup in college.... and they might both get their first NFL experience in the same game on Sunday. Tomorrow, Coach Kiffin has to either activate Bush or put him on IR for the season.... so Bush might see his little sidekick Kolby at Narrowhead.

I liked him in college, but most every time Smith has touched the ball in a game and preseason he doesn't even look like a legit NFL RB. He looks slow and looks like he lacks vision to me. Course, our O-line and playcalling could make anyone look like that.

I can hardly wait to see how our offensive masterminds utilize his talents. ROFL

not a personal shot goatse, not at all - I am just tired reading "oh yeah, this guy is a tank! he rocks!"
I saw Kolby Smith run several times and he looks slow and while he does run low I don't see a big deal here. There's a real difference between "pleasantly surprised" and he's a "beast" and "you're going to love him".
Just as an example, just go back to the Jessie Haynes hype, Greg Hill - for once I'd just like to read a realisitc article, not some "waxing philosophically, I love myself" styled item.

I honestly believe he's the type of back that needs a few carries to get into a rhythm. I thought as the game wore on last week he looked better.

Actually, his touches were as follows:

3-1-KC 42 (13:37) 21-K.Smith left tackle to KC 43 for 1 yard

1-10-KC 23 (1:15) (Shotgun) 21-K.Smith up the middle to KC 27 for 4 yards

2-6-KC 27 (:42) 21-K.Smith up the middle to KC 32 for 5 yards

2-8-KC 25 (6:35) 21-K.Smith left tackle to KC 27 for 2 yards

3-6-KC 27 (5:49) (Shotgun) 12-B.Croyle pass short left to 21-K.Smith to KC 34 for 7 yards

1-10-IND 45 (3:34) 21-K.Smith up the middle to IND 40 for 5 yards

1-10-IND 22 (2:15) (Shotgun) 21-K.Smith up the middle to IND 19 for 3 yards

3-12-KC 35 (14:11) (Shotgun) 12-B.Croyle pass short middle to 21-K.Smith to KC 46 for 11 yards

1-10-KC 45 (8:58) 21-K.Smith left end to KC 40 for -5 yards

3-18-KC 37 (7:41) (Shotgun) 21-K.Smith left tackle to KC 39 for 2 yards

So after his initial 1yard carry he got blown up behind the LOS once for -5 yards (obviously poor blocking) and got only 2 yards on a 3rd and 18 draw play. He also had a couple of nice catches for positive yardage.

Duck, I hope all of that comes to pass. I'd love to see Smith have a big game and I'd love to see Bush get in a game. I'm curious about what sort of NFL player he will be.

RJ, Bush was a fuggin monster in college. Louisville couple put him in short yardage up the middle or send him to the outside to outrun everybody and he was money every single time. The problem will be how bad that broken leg was. It took him a very long time to get that healed up.

I'm hoping Kolby will develop. Honestly, I haven't paid enough attention to his runs to see how he looks on a fundemental level (usually screaming at the TV to block somebody). At any rate, it would be great if he becomes a solid back with some decent blocking.

Exactly ... especially since Herm was wanting to get younger. I think they held him coz they didn't have other options.

Seems our chance for a very high rank draft pick just increased greatly. I'm cool with that aspect. Would be even more cool with it if Kingless is not the one making the final decision on who to draft.
