View Full Version : Wasn't Herm supposed to fix the defense?

Another reason that Herm should be fired after the season... this defense is still prone to getting gashed by mediocre offenses.

The Raiders ran or 153 yards on 5.3 yards per carry yesterday. The is a Greg Robinson-esque defensive performance.

Wasn't this the main reason that Herm was hired... to build a championship caliber defense? Isn't this the main argument that the Herm supporters give for why he is a better head coach than Vermeil?

Yesterday was a a full display of the miserable that Herm Edwards is as a head coach.

I don't know if you know this, but it takes time to build things. The defense is also much better than what it was a couple years ago.

Well you can't ask the defense to be perfect every game but you can ask the offense not to suck every game.

What do you know the chiefs lose and here comes Mr. Vermil to the rescue.

Herm has a 5 year plan. Course he'll need to hire someone to tell him when this plan is in the 4th qtr...

The D would be fine if we had a high-powered offense. We don't. Our net yardage is negative big-time. Our defense is average and our offense is bottom of the barrel -- not a winning combination.

Which is exactly opposite of what we asked Vermeil's team to do. I believe KCChiefsfan88 always forgets this however.

You apparently never watched DV's defense.

DV was a loser for this organization. He did nothing. 1 of 5 for playoff appearances. Woo-hoo!

As it stands right now, Herm is a loser.

But we're progressing towards an all-around younger, more talented group of guys on both sides of the ball, minus the O-Line. That's why Herm is better for the Chiefs than DV, he doesn't use 10-year veterans for a quick-fix, and put out a defensive unit every week that is old and terrible.

Huard was terrible, but what was inexcusible was his age. The same with DV's defense. At least we have young players getting time on both sides of the ball. DV was terrified to do this.

and neither did you! DV's Team was playing when our divison was good... Herm's Team sucks in a weak division.

Exactly the problem. The defense is not that great, but the offense makes them the strength of the team. Pathetic.

To their credit the Raiders have had a pretty good running game most of the year.

5th in the league...

Impressive considering their record. Most teams that find themselves consistently losing don't have much of a run game.

Thats a W-L record of 44-36. When did a .550 average become competetive? That's an average of 8.8 wins per season, we'll call it 9. So you were happy with a 9-7 team?

You meant to say DV's teams were competitive two seasons, and sub-par the other three. Our division didn't suck last year, and if Norv hadn't ruined the Chargers it would be semi-respectable this year.

the defense was doing okay until they wore out. You can't put this on the defense, it's been the only good part of the team.
PS, it's better than average, it's good. With an offense that could control the clock it would be great.

Never said it was okay. He will be lucky to get 6-10 this year? I'll bet Herm doesnt even make it 4 years here and when all is said and done he wont get near 13-3 or even the 10-6 mark! Herm Sucks!
