Its All About Next Year, Boys

Huard haters will try to hang this loss on the vet QB, but he got as much life out of this anemic offense as was available. KC receivers dropped at least 5 passes, including 2 in the EZ. Chiefs QBs were dropped for sacks EIGHT times today.

This puts an exclamation point behind the sentence we have pretty much been delaying all year – this is a bad team with an awful offense and lot of young, (hopefully promising) players.

General observations: McGraw and Thomas looked utterly lost in relief of Donnie Edwards and Greg Wesley. Without Edwards, LT exposed the Cover 2 as Cover Who? Kolby Smith’s performance last week was no fluke. With a real OL, he will put heat on LJ to pick up the pace next season. Tyler Thigpen impressed me. Then again, I wanted David Terrell to win the starting QB job in camp. Will Svitek is to OLT what I am to slam-dunking basketballs. Ladanian Tomlinson flat out rocks. The good:

Tony Gonzales is far and away the best TE in football. 10 grabs for 140 yards spells excellent on a weapons-laden team; he did it with only one other credible threat on the field and beat double teams all day.

The bad:

Chiefs’ D looked a lot like the 2004 D today. SD backs rolled up 191 yards on 32 attempts for a 6 yards-per-pop average. The Chiefs’ O averaged 3.7 yards per play.

The ugly:

Kansas City has won just 2 out of 7 in the NFL’s best home field advantage venue. First 5 game losing streak in 27 years. And to drive the humiliation home even deeper, Norv Turner gets his first win at Arrowhead.

Its time to play the younger players now. The 2008 preseason begins next Sunday for the 4-8 Kansas City Chiefs.

Next year...more like 3 years with all the holes and age....

And in all honesty it's 3 years after Carl and Herm are gone, whenever that is, no one knows.

Is it true that we have TEN draft picks this coming year?

You can stop sucking off Huard any time now...

Most of them are on the 2nd day.....

This team needs core players to build a team around.....hell they need everything.

Well, I still smell a youth movement in Kansas City. It amazed me though how badly the defense looked without Donnie Edwards. Yikes.

They sold this year as a youth movement.....it's a rather fake youth movement....

I expect more of the same as long as Carl is here.

More like 5 years, Mr. Mecca. Realistically speaking.

Unless we can fix the line through FA.

Move McIntosh to ORT and acquire an OLT and a RG. Hopefully a young center to replace Weigman by next year.

Mecca

McIntosh isn't any good either.....

By the time they fix anything the good defensive players will be old.....TG and LJ are going to be done sooner rather than later also.

Niswanger got injured.

I think Svitek is a RFA after this yr, and I am starting to doubt the chiefs bring him back. They should have tried him at guard.

Did Herb Taylor play? how did he look?
How did Niswanger look?

yes, our oline is awful

Taylor did play, I believe. Niswanger got hurt. Terry did not suit up or even attend the game (death in family). The announcers said that Niswanger might be grooming to replace Weigman at C. Sorry, but besides Waters, this OL blows chunks. EIGHT SACKS.

Kris Wilson looked like a goddamned Pro Bowler on his one carry. Jesus Christ, he broke some motherf*cking tackles.

The really sad thing is that the Texans have a better roster to build around right now and 5 years ago they didn't even exist. :(

I didn't think our D did too bad...

I will start by saying what our primary need is on offense:

we really need a qb that can spread the ball

1. Huard is in love with gonzales
2. Croyle/Bowe all day, no matter who is guarding him
3. and Thigpen shares the wealth, even with the chargers.
