I'm in Chicago listening to ESPN1000 WMVP and they just said that the cubs are trying to work out a deal for Mark Teahan. I really wanted to hold onto him.

Any word on possible compensation for him?

Apparently the Royals like Matt Murton. Would still be a bad trade for KC.

Seriously?

Why not just move him to first and sh!tcan Shealy?

I could see trying to move Gathright or even DeJesus (not that I'd want to see DD go).

But Teahan? That would totally suck baows.

He's been one of my favorite players on this team.

As Dayton as said, no one is untouchable. It would totally depend on what he could get in the trade as to whether or not it would be good for the Royals.

I would really like for Teahan to stay on the team, but if we could get a starting pitcher for him. It might be worth it.

I just like the fact that we finally have a GM that I feel I can give the benefit of the doubt to. I'm not saying he won't make mistakes, but I believe him to be a guy who knows what he is doing and how to improve our team!

Its really odd to have a GM in KC that I can finally believe in... *for now* :)

In reality, none of those three are at this point everyday players on a playoff team, which is what we want to be.

Don't think the Royals could get much for Teahen. His .763 OPS ain't gonna cut it for a corner IF or OF. I remember talk of him moving to 2B. Was he ever tried there?

Murton flashes some power potential and might break out if given a full time job. I think that would be a nice deal for the Royals if a pitcher were thrown in.

Nope, I don't wanna see Teahan go...

We could have had Murton for Randa a few years ago but Glass vetoed the trade.

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

Teahen has no power, doesn't drive in runs, and is an average OF at best.

Moore has looked smart so far ...... gonna try to keep giving him the benefit of the doubt until he screws up.

the Dotel trade looks kinda crappy
the guillen signing looks VERY expensive

but we'll see

I don't think we were getting much interest for Dotel. It seemed to be justified considering how quickly he went down. Maybe other teams could see something in his delivery on film, maybe they could tell he wasn't right, and that's why we didn't get much for him.

Either way, even if Davies were released it would be zero sum. We wouldn't have Dotel today anyway.

Guillen seems to fit with our new outlook of "Identify who you want, and go get them, even if you have to overpay (within reason)"

I agree with this, except for the Dotel part. Yes, Davies wasn't very good, but Dotel got hurt shortly after arriving in Atlanta. In a sense, we literally got something for nothing. Not too bad, right?

Teahen could fill no spot on Chicago's roster. I just don't think this would be a good move for either team. The Cubs really like there outfield prospects they have now with Sam Fuld and Felix Pie.

Teahan is a good player, but if we can something quality in exchange for him, do what we can. Moore knows what he wants out the team, let's see him work his magic before bagging on him.

The Royals won't make this trade to the Cubs.

Matt Murton blows balls. This would be a horrible trade unless they threw in Wood and Prior and hope to god their arms aren't shot this season like in the past.

Along the line of .296/.365/.455 and he blows balls?

Funny. :shake:

I'm serious. The entire city of CHI wants to see him go.

Teahen rules considering he has below average offensive numbers for a middle infielder in the AL.....yet he's in the OF.

Let me explain this slowly for you.

Teahen had shoulder surgery at the end of 2006 and was never really at full strength in 2007.

Usally, it's a typical 1 year recovery time to be back at full strength kind of deal.

For the entire time Mark Teahen has been here.....he was good for 2 months.....

it's like trading a righthanded teahan for a lefthanded teahan, this trade won't happen straight up, if at all

You will see Teahan at first base this year. This coming from Teahan himself.

By the way.. everyone who ripped Teahan for last years numbers.. remember he was learning and playing the outfield for the first time in his life.
