Ok, I've heard not such good things about Dolphin Stadium, and I don't think we'll win, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to see KU in a major bowl game. Girlfriend found tickets cheap and sold locally. Six rows up in one of the end zones. We will be staying in Miami. Not sure how far Dolphin Stadium is from the city. We'll be renting a car at the airport.

We'll be flying in out of Philly on the 3rd and leaving the next day. We have passes to a Budweiser pregame tailgate.

Anyone who has been there have any advice on quick ways to the stadium, ways to avoid traffic, certain areas of town to avoid?

Thanks,

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

The stadium ain't the greatest.

My uncle bought 2 LL corner tickets about 12 rows up for $200 including parking, tickets to a tailgate party and tickets to an alumni party.

Dolphins stadium is about 20-25 miles north of Miami in Opa Locka, which is up around Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale. It's right off the the Florida turnpike and West of I-95. I've never been to the stadium so I don't know what it's like, but I have driven by it quite a few times on the way to the Keys. There are plenty of places to go around that area. Los Olas Blvd(at Ft Lauderdale Beach) is a really fun place to go at night. The Seminole Hard Rock Casino(where Anna Nicole died) is just down the road from it off the turnpike as well. The Ft Lauderdale area is a lot nicer than Miami, IMO and I would try to stick to that area as much as possible.

If you've never been to that area, it is a huge culture shock. It's almost like visiting another country when you go there. People are pretty rude down there and the drivers there are absolutely nuts. There's good and there's bad down there, but it is definitely "different" than the midwest.

I agree that Ft. Lauderdale is nicer than Miami and I definately recommend Las Olas. Lots of fun stuff and nice places to see there including Beach Place. Another place you may want to checkout is Bayside. In Coconut Grove (Miami) there's Cocoa Walk which is also nice and similar to Beach Place.

I also agree about the driving. Take it easy and be careful, it's dangerous out there.

Directly around the stadium (Opa Locka) there isn't much and it's not the best area.

Thanks for all the info. I knew we'd have to watch our asses down there, I just wasn't sure which specific places were the worst. As far as driving, I'll take it easy. I've got some experience driving in big cities with rude people (NYC, Philly, Boston, Baltimore) but I'm sure every place is different.

Thanks again!

I was down there for the Jets game last week and stayed at the bahia cabana days inn in ft lauderdale right off the water for $99 a night. had a blast.

The Dolphin stadium parking lot is like a maze if you don't have a map. so if you're trying to hook up with someone bring a map of the parking lots.

I liked the Stadium itself, you have a good view and plenty of inner space when you want to get a beer or take a leak. I was in section 417 in full sun and it was brutal.
